So let's have a look at some of the most prominent fitness celebrities who became famous with their unique approaches to fitness.
5. The B.U.F.F. Dudes
Kick Ass, Eat Well & Stay Buff!
- Hudson & Brandon (The B.U.F.F. Dudes)
The B.U.F.F. Dudes a.k.a. the 'Better Understanding of Food and Fitness Dudes' are two brothers, Hudson and Brandon White, who started their fitness careers on YouTube. They have a real hands-on approach to fitness, with easy and precise guides on both exercise and #nutrition which quickly earned them a spot in the hearts of many fitness junkies.
The B.U.F.F. dudes are dedicated to the principle that 'when you're a buff dude in the gym, then you're a buff dude at home'. Not only do they have workouts for your gym time, but also home training, low equipment training and more. With Brandon and Hudson you are a BUFF dude in the kitchen too, as they provide you with many different recipes for all your domestic 'Buff' needs.
Their fun and charismatic videos are a treat to watch and they are very consistent with new uploads. They recently expanded into a broader franchise, now serving even more content through their own website.
4. Jessamyn Stanley
Believe me when I say that using your personal body issues as an excuse to avoid yoga is a very serious disservice to your well-being.
- Jessamyn Stanley
In contrast to more traditional fitness gurus, Jessamyn is a #yoga instructor. When starting yoga training, Jessamyn faced both physical and also financial difficulties and while she was able to master the physical obstacles, the latter became a bigger issue. When she could no longer afford her membership, Jessamyn decided to practice yoga in her home while learning from the online yoga community. The rest was history.
Jessamyn quickly became renowned for her positive body image approach to fitness. In her own words, 'ones physical appearance or body type should not hinder your love or strife towards fitness'. Self-love and intense yoga are the two pillars of her lifestyle. She has appeared in numerous shows and articles and is spreading her positive message through Instagram and YouTube.
3. Jon Venus
Don't discredit other people's accomplishments to try to raise yourself above them. Instead try digging deep, find that ferocious fire within you and work like your existence depended on it. Before you know it, you will be the one whose building everyone is trying to tear down.
- Jon Venus
Jon Venus is a world class #bodybuilding athlete and activist. While most of his content is on #YouTube, he also has a strong presence on social media, notably #Instagram. His videos are devoted to two major outlooks in life, veganism and maximizing your potential to be your greatest self. He does this by showcasing his own journey, recovering from surgery to become a world class fitness athlete while at the same time showing the world that #vegan bodybuilding can match any other fitness diet.
Jon focuses on showcasing vegan alternatives to popular foods, vegan fast food, vegan protein and most importantly, the sustainability of a vegan diet for bodybuilding. His goal is to show you the alternative to the standard meat-eating bodybuilding lifestyle while fighting animal abuse.
2. Kali Muscle
Don't do what others tell you to do, do what you feel in your you're supposed to do - Kali Muscle
Kali Muscle is a bodybuilder and fitness guru on Youtube. He was born in Oklahoma and had a pretty rough childhood, which unfortunately led to prison time. Not letting this get in his way, Kali moved to L.A and kick-started his career. After a few years and a few acting jobs he eventually found his way on YouTube, where he managed to create a strong fitness channel with over one million views and more than 600 videos. His channel consists of fitness videos, music videos, physical feats but most importantly, inspiration and motivational videos.
Inspired by his time in prison, Kali finds ways to train and maintain his physique with the least amount of equipment possible, making him the perfect guy to follow when you're on a budget and don't have an active gym membership.
If you want to look like an athlete, you've got to train like an athlete.
- Jeff Cavaliere
Jeff Cavaliere, the guy behind the Athlean-X, is another fitness YouTuber. His work, however, didn't start with YouTube. Jeff Cavaliere is a certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and had been the head physical therapist and strength coach for the New York Mets between 2006 and 2008. This backstory sure rubbed-off on his content, developing some of the most in-depth and technical fitness videos on YouTube.
Jeff combines years of scientific research and practical application with experience and motivational speeches. His videos do not only teach you how to complete a particular exercise but also mould your mentality to that of a true athlete. This often underrated fitness coach also tackles specific fitness problems and teaches you the science behind improving yourself. Jeff brushes off rumours and fitness "traditions", stripping fitness down to what it truly is, and engraving that lifestyle upon his followers.
Honorable Mention - Jacques Sayagh
If you live in Paris, you might have ran into this guy. Jacques is a homeless man living on the streets of Paris with his two dogs and few possessions. A documentary video showcasing his life as a homeless bodybuilder surfaced on December 2014. In that video, Jacques posed on the streets of Paris training with little to no equipment. Thanks to the video, he managed to reunite with his family and meet his grandchildren.
The uniqueness of Jacques' lifestyle is fairly apparent. As a homeless man, Jacques uses his natural surroundings: the floor for push ups, and ropes for flies and pull ups. He flexes on the street, managing to get a few coins to spend on protein shakes and healthy food. He also managed to compete in a bodybuilding contest while having a failed liver due to previous alcohol abuse. If he can do it, anyone can!
