I'm addicted to watching and owning movies. I even love to talk about movies when I'm not watching them. I write movies and I make movies.

We all have those sick days where we feel like utter crap and all we want to do is rest and watch movies. Sometimes we want to watch something that will uplift us to make us feel better. Other times you may want the whole world to feel just as bad as you do right now, or maybe you like to think about the meaning of life while you're doped up on cold medicine. Either way, you're lucky I have eclectic taste in movies and have found some movies where everyone can find at least one movie to watch. You may only be able to watch one movie anyway because you'll keep dozing off, or maybe you just called in "sick" because you really want to just binge watch movies. Heck, I understand. I've been there and I have options for all of the above scenarios.

These are not ordered from worst to best or anything, but merely bunched together in similarities. My favorite feel good sick day movies tend to be animation because I feel like a kid who needs to be babied when I'm ill. I don't feel that way often, so, I try to take advantage of some rewards. That being said, I'm starting with animated movies, then going into real uplifting movies, to dramatic, yet positive movies, and ending with various other types.

Goofy has always cheered me up as a kid. This is a great road trip movie too, but who watches movies on a road trip? Either way, the music in the movie always made me smile and the dancing at the Power line concert always made me want to dance. The movie tends to make me feel good when I don't. Writing about it I see scenes in my head and laugh.

This was a great fun movie for me. Baymax was originally built as a health robot, so, why not thro this in on the list. This movie is sure to be a little sad, but very positive and uplifting. I personally like the song "Immortals" off the soundtrack. I feel like this was an underappreciated movie. It's got voices from T.J. Miller, Damon Wayans Jr., James Cromwell, Alan Tudyk and Maya Rudolph. To me, superhero movies are always fun.

Truly a deep and moving film. The first time I watch the film thought it was pretty intense, but when you're sick, you can relate to this because you may feel all of your emotions too, but all you want is to feel Joy again. This movie was amazing to me and I can't believe it didn't come out e. Disney keeps on baffling and inspiring. Kinda scary because they may take over the world, but we all seem oddly fine with that. It's cast by some great voices: Amy Poehler, Phyllis Smith, Richard Kind, Bill Hader, Lewis Black and Diane Lane. Let some joy inside.

If you like anime, then this is for you. Not a kids animation movie. It's got blood and violence. A group of bounty hunters, "cowboys", track down the villain who wants to unleash a deadly virus upon the people of Mars. They will stop the guy, but only because of the money. The whole film is wonderful detailed art. I love the music in the movie too. The movie is full of action and comedy. If you like this, then check out the short lived TV series. See you space cowboy.

Of course you need to watch this when you're sick! It's a half real movie, half animated movie about a guy getting sick and how his body reacts to the whole process. It's super interesting and funny. It also can be a little gross at moments, like, no wonder the guy gets sick, he's disgusting. The lead real actor is Bill Murray, who doesn't love that guy? Actors who provide voices are Chris Rock, David Hyde Pierce, and Laurence Fishburne. If you can handle Chris Rock's voice, then you can make it through this fun ride.

Another half real, half animation movie. Some people who don't watch movies, may read books when they are sick, but with this you have a great movie that deals with the magic of books. It's one of my all time favorites from growing up and it is truly filled with Adventure, Fantasy, Comedy and a little Horror. This one is defintily a good one to please throughout the ages. Macaulay Culkin stars with Christopher Lloyd, Patrick Stewart, Whoopi Goldberg and Leonard Nimoy.

If you like 80s moves, then you'll like this one too. The movie about a man shrinking in a machine and being injected into someone's body. Nothing says "sick day" like feeling as if a man is maneuvering a machine around your insides. This is some great comedy for you to enjoy, but who knows, if you were recently injected, then whose to say someone isn't in there calling the shots (pun intended). It stars Dennis Quaid, Martian Short and Meg Ryan.

Robin Williams always had ways to cheer me up. So many of his movies could be on this list, but I chose a few to put here for good reason. This movie, though very, very sad, it also is uplifting and makes you laugh. The whole point is that laughter is the best medicine and is contagious. What else do you need on a sick day more than laughter and rest? This fits much of your needs. Stars Robin Williams, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Monica Potter. Keep laughing.

Another dramatic and uplifting film. A movie based on a true story where people who have been catatonic for years have finally awoken with a new drug. Such a great movie all round. Perfect movie to watch today because everyone who was really sick got a lot better. Some drive of hope for you. It stars Robin Williams, Robert DeNiro, Penelope Ann Miller and Alice Drummond.

A sad, yet uplifting movie. Jack is a boy who grows up way too fast and is kept locked inside by his parents and their fears of letting him go. He finally gets out and has friends to where he can have a somewhat normal happy life for the short time he's there. It's very inspirational. As soon as you feel better you will want to enjoy life more because you realize how quickly it goes by. There Robin Williams goes again, being in movies that make you look at your life and decide to do better. Though I never met him, I miss him and wished there was some way we could have helped him like he helped many of us.

The idea in this movie should always be remembered. This is a very inspiring heartfelt story about a boy changing things for the better by acts of kindness. It may make you cry too, but it's very touching. Some people may like the feeling they get from this while they're sick. I can see a woman on the couch smiling and crying as she blows her nose and tosses the tissue in the small trash can next to her. It Stars Kevin Spacey, Helen Hunt and Haley Joel Osment. Always remember to pay it forward.

Amazing sound track and always a good movie to put on when you're in a slump. Not sure why, but it does make you feel good. It's like a nice trek up a mountain and when you get there you see the bright sun and can breathe the crisp cool air. It also will keep reminding you do do something that's never been done before, which is a great goal for your daily life. Stars Zach Braff and Natlie Portman. I wouldn't lie to you.

Every time I put this on I feel entranced. I can never look away from this movie. Everything about it is beautiful. The sounds of Mozart always tend to calm moods and put you at ease. I still remember the first time I saw it and I still get the same feelings. A great movie to pass the time and make the home comfortable. Stars F, Murray Abraham and Tom Hulce. Twinkle, Twinkle.

One of my all time favorite movies. I've done papers and studies on this movie and it astounds me every time I learn something new. I seriously have watched this so many times, many when I was sad or depressed because I could relate to it, but even when I'm sick, this movie brings me up. Jim Carrey is another one of those positively inspiring actors who have changed my thoughts and ways of life in crucial moments. In this movie, you get to feel as if you're inside his head. Try as hard as you want to erase love, but love will always find it's way back. Great thoughts from a fantastic movie. Stars Jim Carrey, Mark Ruffalo, Kirsten Dunst, Kate Winslet, Elijah Wood, Tom Wilkinson and David Cross. Remember this.

A great movie about the connections between peole. Now that you have some time to intently watch, you should give it a chance. It's a creat intertwining of stories and lives of people and things across the universe. Many wonderful actors play various roles, but each role has something similar to the others. It's a great diverse movie. Follow along and see if you can keep up. I love the Wachowski's thought provoking stories. It stars Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent and Jim Sturgess. We are all connected.

A movie written and directed by Michel Gondry, who directed 'Eternal Sunshine'. This is a movie that is very artistic and imaginative. A man entranced by his dreams and imagination falls in love with a French woman and he thinks he can show her his world. You as the audience begin to wonder what is real and what is his dream/imagination. It's a very cute story, but can be off putting since it's a bit out there, but there's no better time to check it out when you're ill and possibly loopy off medication. It could be quite fantastic and it could send you mind in a whirl. If you're a fan of foreign films, then you will like it for that reason too. It has subtitles because some things are in French. Stars Gael Garcia Bernal and Charlotte Gainsbourg. Sleep now.

An independent film written and directed by Jamin Winans. I watched this recently when I wasn't feeling well, and it definitely fit in well. A creature named Ink steals a girl's soul as she is in a coma, and he takes her to use her as a bargaining chip in order to become an Incubi, which are supernatural beings that create nightmares, and there are positive dream forces that aim to save the girl and her father. A movie that really makes you think. If you like this, then be sure to check out Jamin's other works like 'The Frame'. This stars Christopher Soren Kelly, Quinn Hunchar, Jessica Duffy and Jeremy Make. Listen to the beat of the world.

Also a kind of mind-bending sci-fi. Another Earth appears in the distance of the world, like the moon, and people are winning trips to Earth 2. One girl wins and wants to go in order to escape her life and what she's done, but falls in love, which changes a lot. Along the way come thoughts of the other self on Earth 2, which leads to all kinds of thoughts and actions. The actress also plays in the Netflix series 'The OA'. If you've see that, then expect the same sort of feeling and effect. This movie is sure to enthrall. Stars Brit Marling, William Mapother and Matthew-Lee Erlbach. Is there another you out there in a parallel universe?

Crazy mind-bending movie that will surely get you thinking about the world and life. This one has a 118 year old man recounting memories of his life, but ends up talking about living different paths of his life. Things change and run together, but it makes you wonder, did any of it happen? Did all of it happen? What's real and what does he remember differently? Another great one to sit and watch and pay attention to becuase you have nothing better to do. It stars Jared Leto, Sarah Polley, Rhys Ifans and Diane Kruger. He ain't nobody.

Another film to sit and pay attention to. If you fall asleep in this one, you may have some crazy dreams, since this is about people implanting an idea in heads through dreams. Christopher Nolan has a knack for creating some great interesting and in depth films. This will get your mind going as you stare at the TV in your groggy state. Stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, Ellen Page, Ken Wantanabe and Cillian Murphy. It'll incept you.

Here's kind of like a horrific sci-fi action movie. As your sick you can watch the documentary type movie where a guy gets sick and turns into one of the aliens that inhabit the area. If you haven't seen it yet, it's really good. It starts out slow, but as soon as the dude gets sick, then it gets good, So if you like these types of movies when you're ill, then check it out. It was even nominated for an Oscar. Neill Blomkamp's first film. Stars Sharlto Copely, Jason Cope and Nathalie Boltt. They're not roaches.

Nothing better than to watch a movie that makes you afraid of what you might be sick with. Watching the sickness of a deadly virus spread quickly and easily may make you to be cleaner and healthier. Maybe this is just the movie you need to see. Either this or 'Outbreak'. I guarantee you will want to take a shower to cleanse yourself of the illness. Just don't let the thought ruin your life, but it is crazy to think how easy it is to spread terrorism this way. This stars Gwyneth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne, Jude Law and Matt Damon. Please wash your hands.

If you are a fan of musicals, then this will lift your spirits. Some of these characters have one of the worst illnesses of our times, AIDS, but they still find a way to love each other and fight through their dying days in order to spend it with the ones they love. I never liked and understood the hate on this movie because "everyone has AIDS". Not everyone has it. Maybe like four people. This movie is ultimately about love and in its songs you can feel it through the tingling sensations. Really is a great musical to make you smile through the sickness. Stars Rosario Dawson, Anthony Rapp, Jesse L. Martin, Idina Menzel, Tracie Thoms, Tye Diggs and Adam Pascal. Seasons of love.

In case you are looking for a classic black and white flick, this is one of my favcorites, I can never turn away from this movie either. Sometimes when you're sick you need a good detective movie, and this one does the trick for me. If not watch this one, then I'd watch 'Casablanca'. I feel they are perfect for that down mood and just to keep that relaxing feel while watching a classic. Starring Humphry Bogart and Lauren Bacall. You're cute.

For the epic fantasy lovers who just want to veg out in one fantastic world. You can watch both trilogies, but be sure to turn on the extended versions. They are long, but the story is so much better. You may not finish them all in one sitting, but sometimes you're not sick for just one day, right? I also recommend 'Chronicles of Narnia', but those won't last as long, so, you could do 'Harry Potter' or 'Star Wars' if that's your thing. These movies star, Martin Freeman, Ian Mckellen, Elijah Wood, Orlando Bloom, Andy Serkis, Bendidict Cumberbatch, Richard Armitage, Luke Evans, Cate Blanchett, Lee Pace, Stephen Fry, Sean Astin, Ian Holm, Christopher Lee, Sean Bean, Billy Boyd, and Viggo Mortensen. One Ring to rule them all.

I searched through various sick day movie articles and found these two movies were in practically every one, but I didn't really want to add them to my list because they belong elsewhere. Ferris belongs in another list article I'm planning on writing in the near future, and Ground Hog Day, though a good movie, I personally wouldn't care to watch it when I was sick because the repetitiveness annoys me, which worsens when I'm ill. But since a large majority like these on their list, I thought they were worth mentioning.
