As if you couldn't get enough Justice League updates, even more come pouring through the door. This time the news is coming straight from the horse's mouth, or in this case Zack Snyder.
Zack Snyder Hints At Superman's Role
Recently, Justice League director, Zack Snyder, sat down to talk with Empire about the upcoming superhero flick. That said, the issue itself has yet to be released a picture and some quotes from the article are now available online. More importantly, the quotes that are available are of Snyder explaining Superman's hidden role in Justice League. Check out what he said:
"Superman does play a big part in this movie. His presence and lack of presence, are big story points."
Now how is that for interesting? But the real question is, what does that even mean? Let's take a look, shall we?
Breaking It Down
Since Superman's demise at the end of Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice, we have not seen a single trace of the hero since. In fact, the only real talk of Superman was briefly by Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad. Although, that may be the idea that Snyder is getting at. Perhaps Justice League will contain a high level of focus on the setbacks going on in a world now without Superman? After all, it would only make sense that Superman's lack of presence would have a rather large impact. I mean one doesn't simply forget about Superman's existence. His lack of presence may also take a toll on the Justice League. In fact, I could easily see Batman as being the one who misses Superman the most, especially during major crisis points of the film when he could use the extra form of leadership and help. Obviously, Batman doesn't take orders from people but I think he has developed enough of a mutual respect for Superman (or Martha your pick) that he will at least miss the extra muscle.
Snyder also confirmed in his statement that Superman will in fact be in the film itself. So maybe the rumors of him coming back not-so-friendly are true. Everyone knows what happened in the comics but frankly we have no idea how he will be resurrected in Justice League. Many have speculated that Darkseid will resurrect and control Superman to help him with his desire to rule. Maybe Snyder was hinting at this? Or maybe, we have it completley backwards?
At the end of the day, Snyder has still left us with a very open interpretation of what may happen in Justice League. It is worth noting that recent picture of Superman in his black suit may have been revealed. So it will be interesting to see if Warner Bros. will post any official images of the hero or wait until the film to reveal his new look. Until then, all we can do is speculate!
