...racters, nowadays is that studios seem to have this mindset that everything in the movie must be dark and gritty. They seem to think that this is the only way that audiences will take the film seriously. In addition, they desperately want to differentiate their comic book flicks from Marvel's in order to seem more unique. If you watch the utterly joyless and boring "Man of Steel," as well as the trailers for "Batman v. Superman" and "Suicide Squad," it's hard to believe how depressing everything looks. The same can be said for "Fant4stic," which seems ashamed to be associated with its wacky source material. Christopher Nolan's "Batman" weren't devoid of color. They succeeded because they had actual substance.
