Square Enix certainly have a lot on their plate this year, what with celebrating the anniversaries of five games and the 30th anniversary of the Final Fantasy franchise.
Celebrations may be off to a quiet start, but the release of #KingdomHearts 2.8 draws closer, and shortly after the entire series will be available on PlayStation 4. With that finished, it should be all hands on deck for the production of #KingdomHearts3—well for the teams working on it. But these two games—thought they'll undoubtedly be separated by months—may share in introducing a rather intriguing new feature to the franchise.
'Kingdom Hearts 3' Could Have Character Customization, If Fans Want It
Yep, character customization could be a-go for Kingdom Hearts, at least that's what statements from Tesuya Nomura, the franchise's director suggest. During a recent interview with Dengeki, Tetsuya elaborated on the customization feature added to Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep -0.2 A Fragmentory Passage.
"I thought that we needed something fun to play around with even in with the game's jam-packed volume, so the staff devised this at the last minute for me. It really changes the character's look, so please gather a lot of items and design your own Aqua." - Tetsuya Nomura, Kingdom Hearts Director
When asked whether this would be included in Kingdom Hearts 3, Nomura stated that it isn't currently a priority, but also depends on the reactions of fans.
"We knew we could insert that feature into the game this time, but whether or not we can with [KHIII]...we have other priorities ahead of us so it depends on time, but we'll look at the reaction with [KH0.2] and consider it."
There are reasons as to why this may not be such a huge priority, after all this game sounds enormous and character customization is but a small feature. However, it's already been confirmed that Kingdom Hearts 3 will see the return of Drive Forms and oftentimes party members will alter their outfits based on the world they're visiting, so there is one itch that additional customization could scratch:
Though a small feature, I think Kingdom Hearts fans would revel in the opportunity to customize Sora and his companions to their heart's content. We'll have to see if it's something that makes it into Kingdom Hearts 3, but until then, here are all the accessories in Kingdom Hearts 2.8 thus far.
Are you going to play Kingdom Hearts 2.8? Would you like to see customization in Kingdom Hearts 3? And last but not least...
