When I watched the trailer for this movie, I actually wasn't keen on it at all. The music choice in the trailer was trying to make it seem as if it was a comedy, when it's supposed to be a sci-fi movie about natural disaster and unfortunately 2017 brought out another disappointing movie.
Geostorm is about 18 nations, helping to build and commission "Dutch Boy", which is a system of satellites designed to control the climate on a global scale, due to extreme natural disasters that have left millions dead. Jake Lawson (#GerardButler) is the Dutch Boy's chief architect, who activated Dutch Boy without prior approval and is replaced by his brother Max (#JimSturgess), who works under the Secretary of State. Three years later "Dutch Boy" malfunctions over Afghanistan which killed sufficient amount of people as a result and other satellites start to malfunction all over the world which will create a Geostorm. It's up to Jake and Max to save the world from the Geostorm that with destroy the Earth.
The only way I can describe this film is that it's a much cheesier version of Day After Tomorrow and I think this film made Day After Tomorrow look like a five star film. #GeraradButler was just full of awful cliches and I felt like I had to laugh at the bad jokes because it was that bad and cringy. The only actors I was impressed by are #AbbieCornish and #ZazieBeetz because their characters were interesting and their acting was superb.
The only thing I enjoyed in this film was the CGI of the space station and when #GerardButler and #AlexandraMariaLara were in space and retrieving a panel. I also thought the storyline had potential because it was an interesting outlook if 18 nations did have to build a device to stop global warming from destroying the Earth, but because they made it cheesy, it lost its potential. I don't mind a good few one liners but when its constant it's hard to take this movie seriously.
Overall if you want to watch a movie about the effects of climate change, just stick to Day After Tomorrow, even though it was not the best movie but at least it's as cheesy as this film.
