This Article is has information and pictures on 8 conditions which some people may find upsetting/disturbing.
I saw an article the other day and it has inspired me to write about some of the horrify conditions that are out there which infect humans and the way they appear, this is real life horror and i feel sorry for any poor soul that get these conditions as it must be very hard for them!
Hypertrichosis (Werewolf Syndrome)
This is a rare condition of abnormal hair growth, either in one area or all over the body, this condition can be present at birth or come on later in life, so you could still get it! either way it shares a resemblance to a werewolf although there are no awesome fangs or claws chucked into the mix I'm sorry to say, but it makes you think, could this be where the idea first came about, that werewolves are real? or that there are in fact wolf-men? I'm sure if you saw someone with this condition back when we had no information to explain things, it would make a believer out of you!
Polymelia, Greek meaning 'Many'
This condition is a birth defect, born with more then the normal amount of limbs, it will normally be 5 but it can be more, these extra limbs are deformed in someway, but basically it's conjoined twins, one of the twins degenerated completely except for one or more limbs, which end up attached to the other twin, this is really freaky, knowing that you have the limbs of your brother or sister attached to you but they are not actually there! and it doesn't just happen in humans but animals too! This condition has been used quite a lot in all cultures to create alsorts of characters, take for instance In the Mortal Kombat series, the Shokan is a race of humanoids known to have four arms, or Spiral, villain in the X-Men stories of Marvel Comics, has six arms and in the film Avatar, most of the creatures have six legs rather than four, or even the Gegenees a race of six-armed giants who inhabited the same island as the Doliones in the ancient Greek epic Argonautica!
Cutaneous horns (Devil Horns)
These are skin tumors with the appearance of horns, or sometimes of wood or coral, They are usually small and localized, but can, in very rare cases be much larger, they are not actually sure what causes them for certain, but have recorded that in some cases these wart like horns have came out of scars, burns or that exposure to radiation or long turn exposure to UV can trigger the condition which comes on later in life, makes you think twice about using those sun beds now doesn't it? they manly appearing on the hands and face of the person where the sun light hits the most, of course that's not the case for everyone! Zhang Ruifang has one that grew to 6 cm and has another one growing on the other side of her head, they have called them 'Devil Horns' which fits them perfectly, But again this makes you think, is this the condition that made the image of the devil? I'll let you be the judge of that one.
Below is 101-year-old Zhang Ruifang from Linlou village, China, Devil-like horn coming out of the left side of her forehead. It began as a small lump, that Zhang and her family ignored, but it turned into a regular horn that now measures 6 cm. Neither the horn nor the accompanying attention has fazed Zhang, who says that “At first it was a nuisance sleeping and so on, but now I get people visiting me all the time bringing me food and gifts and asking to take my picture.”
Below 69-year-old woman apparently lived with a 20-cm-long cutaneous horn coming out of her forehead. She apparently came into a doctor’s office, one day,in 2008, saying she had a bump on her head, two decades ago, which eventually dried and turned into that curled up horn. The cutaneous horn was surgically removed.
Below Saleh Talib he used to have repeated dreams about growing horns on his head, until one day, at 78 years of age, his recurring dream became a reality. Saleh said he had no idea how why the horn began to grow, but believed it was a gift from Allah. It had fallen off once, but grew back in a matter of months. Though it couldn’t have been very comfortable, Saleh refused to have his gift removed. According to doctors from a specialized hospital, the man’s horn was caused by multiplying layers of hardened skin, on his head.
