It - September 9 (Wide Release)

Probably THE most anticipated horror movie of 2017 is the long awaited remake of the 1990 film . Based on a 1986 novel, the film is set in Derry, Maine, during the summer of 1989 and follows a group of seven kids who encounter a creepy clown know as Pennywise. As the group realize that the shape-shifting entity may be responsible for children going missing in the town, they set out to destroy it once and for all, before it destroys them.

Cary Fukunaga, who wrote the screenplay, went on to say;

I am in the midst of rewriting the first script now. We're not working on the second part yet. The first script is just about the kids. It's more like The Goonies (1985) meets a horror film [...] We're definitely honoring the spirit of Stephen King, but the horror has to be modernized to make it relevant. That's my job, right now, on this pass. I'm working on making the horror more about suspense than visualization of any creatures. I just don't think that's scary. What could be there, and the sounds and how it interacts with things, is scarier than actual monsters

The official title of the film is It: Part 1 – The Losers' Club, as the movie is planned to be the first installment in a duology. In the book, it is mentioned that "It" returns to Derry approximately every 27 years, and the remake is set 27 years after the original. Not only this, but Bill Skarsgård, who plays Pennywise, will be 27 years old when the film is released, and in a cruel turn of events, Jonathan Brandis, who played the young Bill Denbrough in the original film, died at the age of 27.
