Disney is currently hard at work on modern versions of its various classics. One of its most anticipated ones is , a sequel to the 1960s film starring Julie Andrews. In it, Emily Blunt will be carrying the magical purse as she travels to London to find Jane and Michael Banks - the children she once helped - who, as grown adults with children of their own, have suffered a personal loss.

Rebooting or updating a classic movie can be difficult for fans. One of the most common struggles from these projects is seeing another actor take on iconic characters. "Emily Blunt is going to play Mary Poppins and I am a great fan. I think she is terrific and a perfect pick."

As for her reaction to 's casting, Andrews' blessing is not only a relief for us diehard fans, but also for the actress who's taking on the enormous responsibility of carrying the Mary Poppins mantle for a new generation. Speaking to EW, Blunt revealed that Rob Marshall told Andrews about the casting before it was officially revealed:

“Rob said he was in the Hamptons, and he saw [Andrews], and he said, ‘It’s top secret, but Emily Blunt’s playing Mary Poppins.' And she went, ‘Oh, wonderful!'”
