I'm an avid movie fan whose favorite movie ever is Back to the Future. I'm the type of person that if I like a TV show, I'll binge watch it

With seven seasons and one spinoff under its belt, AMC's The Walking Dead has become a pop culture phenomenon. As with any successful piece of entertainment, Rick Grimes and his group of survivors have been a prime target for parody throughout the years, including a recent Robot Chicken episode. Now, a new parody has come our way from Sesame Street.

Nope, folks, that wasn't a typo. In honor of the highly-anticipated release of The Walking Dead Season 8, decided to parody the cult-favorite zombie series with a hilarious video starring the Cookie Monster, a.k.a. Sheriff Graham.

Everyone, Meet 'The Walking Gingerbread'

Don't be fooled, fellow geeks, because while this may be a lighthearted version of the show, it's still surprisingly accurate to what TWD's characters go through. If you want to see the Cookie Monster fighting off his never-ending hunger, look no further:

I'm not gonna lie, I wasn't expecting the Governor –– a blood-thirsty and depraved leader –– to appear in a children's show. Thankfully, the parody did find a clever way to go around the gruesome killing of Walkers by having the fluffy versions of Michonne and Daryl essentially flipping them away like pancakes with kitchen utensils.

Thinking about it more, Cookie Monster's scare tactic of threatening to eat the Walking Gingerbread at the end was pretty solid. That's the kind of bold leadership that Rick Grimes needs to get back to. Huh, who would have thought? Sesame Street actually gave The Walking Dead a useful survival trip.

This Isn't The First Time That Sesame Street Has Parodied Shows For Adults

Sesame Street may be one of the most beloved children's shows out there, but it isn't afraid to get dark when the situation calls for it. In fact, it's kind of a tradition going way back to 2009, when the show made its own version of Mad Men:

Six years later, in 2015, the series' YouTube channel released a parody called Game of Chairs. To make things a bit more kid-friendly, this new version trades GoT's signature murder and violence for a literal game of chairs. It's as strange and hilarious as it sounds without context, so take a look:

That same year, the show decided to tackle the dark (and often disturbing) political drama that is . Once again, the parody stays faithful to its source material, and it even recreates Frank Underwood's engaging fourth wall-breaking dynamic with the audience:

Can't get enough of these parodies? Don't worry, because there are more ... so many more. Sesame Street has tackled a variety of pop culture staples, such as Star Wars (Star S'Mores), Harry Potter (Furry Potter and the Goblet of Cookies), Twilight (Twilight Breaking Cookie) and Lord of the Rings (Lord of the Crumbs).

If you want to get a taste of the real The Walking Dead, the series returns to AMC on Sunday for Season 8.
