After a long stay in hospital, Carrie Fisher, known for her role as Princess Leia, has died at the age of 60. A statement from the family spokesman Simon Halls has been released on behalf of Carrie's Daughter Billie Lourd:
“It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8:55 this morning, she was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly, our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”
On a flight from London to Los Angeles on Friday 23rd December, whilst promoting her new book The Princess Diarist, Fisher went into cardiac arrest. After landing 15 minutes later she was rushed to hospital where she was treated, but later died.
May the force be with her and her family
