If word-of-mouth is any indication, Ezra Miller's Flash is easily the highlight of Justice League. He'll play the fast-talking speedster next in the solo film . Though details about the upcoming project have been scarce, we've been slowly getting information. And thanks to a new EW interview with Ezra Miller and DC's chief creative officer Geoff Johns, it seems very likely that we'll be seeing Batman in Flashpoint as well.

Flashpoint, by its universe-resetting nature, would have to involve other key characters from the DC world, as they play significant roles in the comic book version of the story. (Written by Johns in 2011, "Flashpoint" revolved around The Flash tampering with time to save his mother, and drastically changing the DC Universe as we know it.) And thanks to Geoff Johns's recent remarks, it looks like the Dark Knight is all but confirmed for Flashpoint:

“There’s elements in it that we’re going to be playing into that we couldn’t do anywhere else. The scale of it, the Batman story of it all.”

Although Wonder Woman, Aquaman and other famous DC all play a role in the "Flashpoint" comics, Batman is the most integral supporting character — except, as fans know, he's no longer Bruce Wayne, but rather a Thomas Wayne who was never murdered.

The Future of Flashpoint

So, if the movie follows the comics, who would play Thomas Wayne? The Walking Dead's Jeffery Dean Morgan is the obvious answer, since he briefly portrayed the role in Batman v. Superman.

Recently, Morgan seemed to suggest that he may be playing in the Flashpoint film, and if that's the case then it could also mean that fellow The Walking Dead alum Lauren Cohen ends up in Flashpoint as the Joker. Of course, even before was released, there had been rumors that the future of Flashpoint would hinge on the success of Justice League, and since the Snyder-Whedon movie seems to be DCEU's biggest flop to date, that future is now uncertain. Perhaps it now all hinges on Aquaman and Wonder Woman 2.

Still, for those of us who want to cling on to some hope for the future of the DC Extended Universe, Johns's remark about Batman's inclusion in Flashpoint is assuredly something to be excited about.
