Ratchet and Clank, if you've played on the Playstation any, you've heard of this game series, a platforming and shoot em' up series that has spawned quite a few games in the series. While the platforming is fun, the vehicle combat can be enjoyable and the humor off the chain, the main draw of the games is all of the many many weapons Ratchet and Clank either purchase, find or steal on their way to defeating the bad guys, or just having fun along the way. The games have your normal favorites that any shooting game might have like a shotgun, a regular blaster, a missile launcher and even a sniper rifle. Now while all of those are good and fun to use, the series is known for its wide variety of super wacky and crazy weapons. Here are just five of some of the best wacky toys this series has to offer, in no particular order.

Plasma Coil (Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal)

Ahhh the Plasma Coil. A weapon first introduced in Going Commando, it's a weapon that fires a bolt of plasma and electricity, traveling along the ground, zapping enemies with lethal energy as it goes along its merry way. Has science gone too far? Eh not far enough I say when it comes to this weapon. First off, it's highly useful since one shot can waste a lot of enemies in your way. Fire it into a crowded room and watch the bolts rain from the heavens and spring up like Old Faithful. Second the Plasma Coil is stupidly strong, almost too strong at times with how easily it chews through enemies, especially when upgraded. Third, it's just fun shooting that thing off and watching it zap enemies foolish enough to be in its vicinity.

Rift Inducer/5000 (Up Your Arsenal and A Crack in Time)

The Rift Inducer and it's close cousin the 5000 are another crazy weapon you are sure to fall in love with. It's a fairly simple weapon, one that fires off a black hole which sucks enemies into the great void where they are never heard off again, though apparently bolts, ammo and other items are immune to such an effect. When upgrade, the black holes can merge to become stronger, making it more perilous for enemies. It isn't as effective on larger enemies but the shocks they get from it are powerful enough to kill them. The 5000 summons a monster by the name of Fred, who grabs enemies with his tentacles to eat them. Quite the useful weapon in a tight spot or if you just feel like ripping a black hole in the middle of a fight and watch the carnage happen!'

Mr Zurkon (A Crack in Time, All 4 One, Full Frontal Assualt and Into the Nexus)

Mr Zurkon is a little destructive bot with a lust for wanton murder and destruction that you deploy, allowing him to follow you around and shoot anything in sight until he goes away, allowing you to deploy another one. Aside from the fact that he's useful in a gun fight, Mr Zurkon is hysterical. He's sarcastic and is quick to make little quips about the situation, he isn't even above making snide remarks about you if you die or get hurt and need some nanotech. Mr Zurkon doesn't care, he's just here to kill. It's worth it just to keep him out at all times just to hear the many hilarious lines he has. While he usually comes alone, Into the Nexus features upgrades that causes him to bring his son and than his wife along for the fun. The family that slays together, stays together.

Quack O Ray/Sheepinator/Morph O Ray (Ratchet and Clank, Going Commando, Up Your Arsenal

You see these weapons pop up quite a bit in the series, instead of blowing your enemies up, sending them to another dimension or what not, these bad boys transform your enemies into various types of animals. Yes there is something rather fun watching your enemies get transformed into various farm animals as they wander helplessly around while you are free to continue on. The Quack O Ray steps the ante up by allowing the ducks to first fire off explosive eggs, while other upgrades allow the ducks to follow you to attack enemies and then finally they become a fiery phoenix, making a mess of the battlefield. While not all that effective on large enemies, it can be used against the smaller ones to turn on the bigger ones for...you guessed it, more carnage and bolts. Oh and Raritanium.

Groovitron (Ratchet and Clank PS4, Tools of Destruction, A Crack into Time, Into the Nexus, Full Frontal Assualt)

Now for perhaps the best weapon of all in the entire series, the Groovitron. It's not a destructive weapon by any means but popping one of these out causes anyone in the vicinity to drop what they were doing and DANCE! Not just enemies but even bosses are weak to its powers. Not even the final boss can resist getting groovy with it, even while you shoot them up with whatever you deem necessary. It's worth it to deploy this any chance you get, just to see what dances the enemies, bosses, NPC's or even your allies get down with. It may sound cheesy but once you see the hilarious effects, you will be hell bent on deploying it any chance you get!

Now there are many many more weapons in the series worth writing about. I could have mentioned the most infamous weapon of all, the Rip Ya A New One (RYNO) just for the massive carnage it creates and the fact that it plays certain tunes while deployed but eh, that one was an easy pick and there is more to the series than just weapons too powerful for words. Okay to be honest, there are a lot of obscenely powerful weapons (Up Your Arsenal, I'm looking at you) but there are just as many other ones you can use to make the gunfights more fun and enjoyable. Even some of the weaker weapons can be fun to use at times, try them all out and see what fun you can come up with!
