(WARNING: The following contains a potential — albeit largely costume-related — SPOILERS for 2017's Star Wars Episode 8. Proceed with whatever level of caution the part-melted helmet of your deceased Sith grandparent suggests to you is wise.)
Now, for all that merchandisers' belief that #StarWars #EpisodeVII's breakout star would be #KyloRen proved to be somewhat unfounded (having been largely scuppered by #Rey and #Finn being distinctly awesome, and most people not being sexist or racist), it's impossible to deny that #AdamDriver's villain had one of the coolest costumes this side of Darth Vader.
From the sounds of it, though, a key element of Kylo Ren's costume may well be set to change when #EpisodeVIII hits theaters next year. Y'see...
Kylo Ren May Soon Be Getting A Surprising New Costume
One that, if the latest report on the subject is to be believed, might just make his costume even more iconic. As MakingStarWars.net's Jason Ward reports:
"According to sources, Kylo Ren is wearing a Darth Vader cape in 'Star Wars: Episode VIII.' The cape is said to be like the one Darth Vader wears in 'The Empire Strikes Back/Return of the Jedi.' However, the cape does not have the same chain clasp. It is not entirely clear if this cape is one Kylo made to resemble that of his grandfather’s or if he actually procured one of Darth Vader’s capes that probably fell into the hands of collectors in the Star Wars galaxy."
Yup, that's right. Kylo Ren might just be turning up to Episode VIII's proceedings in a shiny (old?) #DarthVader cape — something that has the potential to be absolutely glorious...or a little bit weird. With Adam Driver's performance (and #TheForceAwakens' fantastic costume-designers) having carried the improbably charismatic villain this far, though, it's surely tempting to believe that the addition of his grandfather's cape will make him even more interesting.
Or, at least, lead to some fantastic snark from General Hux.
What do you think, though? Will we see Kylo Ren don Darth Vader's old cape in Star Wars Episode VIII? Let us know below!
