Now, in an ever more stratified media landscape, it's increasingly rare for a single television appearance or promotional outing to make or break a career as it once could. After all, with millions of viewers — especially in the key 18–49 demographic — having switched off their TV sets in favor of online streaming and social media-based entertainment provision, you can't simply expect people to sit down to watch The Tonight Show, and to fall in love with an actor, comedian or musician accordingly.

Instead, such late-night bastions of once-tastemaking "old media," not least the likes of , have been forced to settle for a more celebrity-reinforcement role — with a hosting appearance on remaining a distinctly defining element of having "made it," Which perhaps makes it relatively unsurprising that...

She is, after all, the lead in a movie all about battling a ruthless, fascist dictator and his ever-more authoritarian and unrepresentative regime — something that would, you'd imagine, make for a distinctly SNL-y easy target for gags. So, if you've been eagerly awaiting a lengthy skit featuring 's Donald Trump as a feckless, orange-skinned riff on Emperor Palpatine, perhaps crushing a rebel cell led by Jyn Erso, (and presumably featuring ) with a tiny iron fist, then January 14 may well be a date to circle in your calendar.

Alternatively, of course, the episode could just be made up of mildly lame character comedy and a vaguely offensive bit about , but until it actually hits our screens, there's always hope.

What do you think, though? What sort of skits would you like to see Jones turn up in on SNL come January 14? Let us know below!
