We're currently less than a month away from Game of Thrones and everyone is starting to get excited to see the next tragedy to befall one of our favorite characters. As of now, rumors are speculating that Jon Snow's real name is actually Jaehaerys Targaryen, and quite frankly, it just seems perfect. Even so, there's still so much information left to ponder over before July. Here are five major things to think about prior to Game of Thrones Season 7. Minor spoilers to come.
1. The Maesters Are The Key To Everything
During every Game Of Thrones' title sequence we see the same thing: an Astroglobe. We finally saw an actual version of one last year when Sam entered the Citadel in Oldtown. Could the Astroglobe from the title sequence be dedicated to what happened when the White Walkers and dragons finally returned? Is Sam the one telling the story of ice and fire?
2. Jon And Dany Could Go To War
What if Jon somehow makes peace with the White Walkers? I know that sounds absolutely insane, but they do have intelligence (check further down), and they must want something to march through all of Westeros, right? We know that Azor Ahai didn't kill them all since they're still around to this day. So what — they're just a red herring and the real battle is between Jon and Dany? Dany has grown power hungry, burning everything she likes with two of her dragons. Jon is the only one that can stand in her way with his very own dragon. Now that would be an awesome twist.
3. Bran Could Be The Night's King
We all remember during Bran's vision how that poor man was turned into the first White Walker. But what if Bran traveled back into time to try to stop these events from happening? Bran has been warned numerous times never stay in a state of warg for too long because his brain could be stuck in that host. And so, what if Bran stayed too long in the Night's King body and has been trapped for over 8,000 years? All he wants is Jon to grant him mercy. And yes, this is far-fetched, but that means the real war could still be between Jon and Dany.
4. The Importance Of The Tree Where The Night's King Was Created
The Whiter Walkers has been leaving symbols of a tree made of corpses of whoever they have just mangled. What if this is Bran warning Jon that this is the place to stop the madness? It's far too deep in the Lands of Always Winter, so Jon must ride his dragon there. Game of Thrones is far too clever of a show for this to be a coincidence — this must have something to do with defeating the White Walkers for good. That, or the White Walkers are just a creative bunch!
5. Will Winterfell Have The Same Magic As The Wall?
Bran the Builder not only built the Wall that keeps out the White Walkers, but he also built Winterfell. That's not all. He built the Hightower in Oldtown. People say that they can see the Wall because the tower was built high enough to see an impending invasion from the White Walkers. This makes one think if Bran the Builder imbued Winterfell with some sort of magic to aid against the the Great Night. If the White Walkers destroy Winterfell, then there's no defense left for the rest of Westeros. It makes you wonder.
So, there are five things to think about during the long nights waiting for Game of Thrones to come back on HBO. We have so few episodes left, so expect for the plot to really start moving along for Season 7 and 8. Lastly, let's all hope that Tyrion is a Targaryen because it'd be out of this world seeing him flying a dragon. Valar Morghulis, my friends.
Do you think any of this is possible?
What are the White Walkers' goals?
