Knights of Badassdom is sure to become a cult classic. This low budget film, directed by Joe Lynch (Everly) comically tells the story of a group of friends that are into Live Action Role Playing, complete with costumes and weapons.
Two brothers played by Steve Zahn (A Perfect Getaway) and Ryan Kwanten (True Blood) and their friend played by Peter Dinklage (Game of Thrones) travel to the "Fields of Evermore" for an epic battle of LARPers.
Zahn fancies himself a wizard and uses a book he acquired on the internet to cast a spell. He didn't imagine it would be an actual book of spells that would summon a real demon. The demon takes the form of Kwanten's ex-girlfriend and goes on a killing spree.
Joined by Summer Glau (Firefly) the team must find a way to send the evil back and get the other LARPers to realize that the danger is real. The cast is rounded out by other recognizable faces like comedian Brian Posehn, Danny Pudi (Community) and Jimmi Simpson (It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia.)
This movie might not be well known now, but it will probably gain in popularity for years to come. With immense commitment to the characters, the ensemble cast truly brings us into the magical, make believe world, backed by a heavy metal sound track and great dialogue. I say, "See it." It's a lot of fun.
