I play some video games but I have not played any game in the Assassin's Creed series, so I came into this movie without a lot of expectations. I hoped that with Michael Fassbender in a staring role that the movie would be good.
I think it is good but not great. Fassbender stars as Cal, a man whose ancestor was a member of a group of assassins. The assassins are fighting against the Templars who want to eliminate free will. The Templars are looking for the Apple of Eden, an artifact that will allow them them to eliminate free will. The Templars use a device called the Amius to project people's mind back to their ancestor's time to see their ancestor's adventures.
The action is decent but not great. Fassbender is good as Cal and his ancestor and I liked the flashbacks to the distant past. Jeremy Irons is on hand as a villain and it is good to see him. I liked the last act of the movie.
This movie is enjoyable and possibly worth seeing again in six or seven months.
