Back in 2013, the guys behind the largely popular Mortal Kombat series, NetherRealms, brought the world Injustice: Gods Among Us. An all new fighting franchise that focused on pitting DC's best (and worst) against each other! It received mostly favorable reviews and ratings, especially from fans because of its new fighting style, the diverse list of characters, the familiar story based off the comic series, and of course, its extras features such as online and the S.T.A.R. Labs missions.
So after all that, there's been much anticipation for a sequel. The hype only increased after video game director, Ed Boon, changed his Twitter profile picture to a number two in Roman Numeral form:
And after the leaked picture of a poster for the game surfaced yesterday, the announcement trailer is finally here!
While it doesn't give us much of an inkling as to what story we might be getting, there are some things to take notice of in this reveal.
Supergirl Is Our First Confirmed New Character
Judging by the trailer, Supergirl will join the roster of playable characters along with her cousin Kal-El. It'll be interesting to see how the two characters are different in the way they're played, since they have similar powers.
Everyone Gets An Upgrade
I'm not entirely sure how they are getting these sweet upgrades, but regardless, they look incredibly cool. Also, it's apparent through the trailer that these serve as a way to enhance the user's strength and/or increase their resistance to other people's attacks. Also it looks like Batman is wearing the Batman Beyond skin, which is a pretty good indication it'll be a playable skin.
It's A Free-For-All
This might just be trailer thing where they show something that might not play into the story, but according to the trailer, everyone is out for themselves. In the previous game, it was superheroes split between following Superman or not, here it may just be a world where the heroes lost their way and just started fighting. Or it may even be there are smaller factions or teams, and these are the leaders of said teams fighting for control. All just speculation.
Hopefully more is shown to us during E3, which is only a couple days away. So keep your eyes and ears open for more information.
What did you think of the reveal trailer? Also, what do you hope to see in the game? Let me know your thoughts in the comments.
