I’m sad to write that another wonderful celebrity was taken from us yesterday. Actor, Miguel Ferrer lost his ongoing battle with cancer at the age of 61.
With over 100 acting credits in the film and TV world, Ferrer became a well-recognised face on many living room screens. After several minor roles, the actor’s big break was as the ambitious OCP executive in Paul Verhoeven’s #Robocop. Most people probably know him from recurring parts in NCIS and Crossing Jordan, however.
#Horror fans may also recognise him in a couple of memorable Stephen King adaptations, most notably The Night Flier and The Stand. The Night Flier saw Ferrer land a starring role as a reporter tailing a vampire who devours victims at airports. The performance by Ferrer was lauded with a fair bit of critical praise.
Fans of the cult TV series #TwinPeaks will also remember him well as the hilarious short-tempered FBI agent, Albert Rosenfield. Despite not being a major role in the series, Ferrer’s terrific stone-faced performance quickly turned the character into a fan favourite which sees him reprising the role in David Lynch's upcoming third and final season, set 25 years after the original.
Some may be surprised to learn that Miguel Ferrer is in fact the cousin of Hollywood actor, George Clooney. He is survived by his wife, Lori and his sons, Lukas and Rafi. R.I.P. Mr. Ferrer, your face will certainly be missed on our screens.
