Fans of Teen Titans can start speculating as new details emerged about which heroes will star in the upcoming series. Recently, That Hashtag Show revealed the character details for DC's live-action #TeenTitans adaptation. DC and WB have teamed up to bring their latest project to the upcoming #DC streaming service, set to make its debut in 2018. #Titans will feature four core members: Nightwing, Starfire, Rave and Beast Boy. Filming is set to start this summer ─ below are the character details and the actors I think would be perfect for the role.
Nightwing (Luke Pasqualino)
Dick Grayson is a cop with a nice smile, tired eyes and a cool, distant manner. However, when provoked, his eyes are so lethal “they drain a man of every last bit of spleen.” Dick is haunted by the murder of his family. Unbeknownst to those around him, he is also a vigilante. In the shadows, he fights with the commitment and conviction of an artist; the brutal grace of a dancer. Mentally and physically, he is covered in scars. Though he fights to escape his past, it is often a losing battle.
Sorry, Steven R. McQueen, but Pasqualino is not only heroic, he's a ladies' man in his role as d'Artagnan in BBC's critically acclaimed The Musketeers. Throw in his supporting role alongside Chris Evans in Snowpiercer and you have #Nightwing, the leader and co-founder of Teen Titans.
Raven (Joey King)
Raven is troubled, bullied and often scared, but unwilling to show it. She's a loner, more comfortable hiding in her hoodie than making friends. Haunted by a dark force inside her, #Raven experiences violent episodes that she cannot understand or control. She is also plagued by recurring nightmares that lead her across the country in search of help
Joey King, the Conjuring star, has been around Hollywood for quite some time, with reoccurring roles in The Haunting Hour (2014), Fargo (2015), and as Magenta in The Flash. Most recently, King has starred in Independence Day: Resurgence as Sam. King is set to star in the horror Wish Upon as Claire, who shares some of the same qualities as Raven. The upcoming horror is set to hit theaters July 14, 2017.
Starfire (Courtney Eaton)
Starfire is a tall, stunning woman; her beauty so magnificent it’s almost inhuman. Elegant, refined and mysterious, she is on the hunt to discover who is trying to kill her and why. Those after her are in for a surprise, because she’s more deadly than anyone they’ve ever encountered.
Eaton absolutely fits the bill for #Starfire — from the height (5'10") to her stunning beauty ─ this 21-year-old actress is ideally suited for the outer-space superhero. She has just enough experience to warrant the role with movies like Mad Max Fury Road, and Gods of Egypt under her belt. She can also be seen in the comedy drama Newness.
Beast Boy (Forrest Wheeler)
Beast Boy is funny and charming. This amateur thief’s humor hides his insecurities and past pain. Not the toughest kid on the streets, he’s learned to survive in the world with his wit and quick thinking.
Since this role was "Asian preferred," Wheeler fits it perfectly. His resume isn't long ─ his most notable role is Emery Huang in ABC's comedy Fresh Off the Boat. He also played young Kuai Liang (Sub-Zero) in Mortal Kombat: Legacy. A role as the charismatic, funny #BeastBoy is perfect for Wheeler.
