None more so than what happens when players get to level 30. The game has only been out for a relatively short time and yet already some dedicated Pokémon fans are climbing to dizzying heights on that XP ladder.
This caused such a stir within the community that an entire subreddit was created so Pokémon GO fans from around the world could find out what the game is like at that level. And, from what we can see, s*** gets real crazy.
Level 30 in Pokémon GO
So, first off as with any level up you will get a certain amount of free junk. At level 30, this is what you get.
At level 30, the Pokémon that you currently have on your phone will all look very different. My Pokémon are still in the low hundreds, and they are my best. Here’s what Verigood’s pokemon collection looks like at level 30.
Rumours had it that as you progress into your early 20’s Pokémon begin to evade capture more regularly, they are said to run almost all of the time. However, according to Verigood, this is not exactly the case.
According to our superhuman Pokémon catcher they don’t run away as often as rumoured, although they do break out of the balls more often. At this level you can expect to use roughly 6 pokeballs per pokemon.
As you progress through the game you will need more and more XP to level up. From the screengrabs that we have seen so far, we can see that to progress from level 29 – 30 players will need to obtain 350,000 XP.
If you thought that was a lot, then hold your breath. To progress from 30 – 31 players will need to obtain 500,000 XP.
The base capture points at this level are way, way, way higher than at lower levels too. Verigood states that your average wild Charmander comes with a CP of roughly 692.
At level 30, Verigood still hasn’t been able to catch ‘em all, which is a very good sign. After doubling down on time and XP boosts, Verigood is peaking at 121 Pokémon in the Pokedex.
Verigood has achieved this score in just under two weeks, many players are asking just how the heck did he do it. It turns out that it is possible to level up fast by utilising a mass evolving method and making the most of those lucky eggs.
To sum up – level 30 is nowhere near the end of the game – there is still loads to play for. There is still no sign of any of the iconic Pokémon items like the master ball or the legendary Pokémon and with so many million XP required to level up just one rank, it will take players a heck of a long time to get to higher levels.
With Reddit groups discovering that Mew will be included in Pokémon GO and that the legendary birds will be available for capture or battle in the near future, the game has a long way to go before we see anyone really coming close to completing it.
