Back in 2012, there was the groundbreaking smash hit The Avengers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now fast forwarding 5 years later, we are finally getting an ensemble cast in a movie that plays out in the DC Extended Universe. But is it everything die hard DC fans have been waiting for?

After Superman (Henry Cavill) sacrificed himself for all mankind, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) and his new ally Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) unite a team of misfit heroes that includes Aquaman (Jason Momoa), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and the Flash (Ezra Miller) to combat the upcoming threat of Steppenwolf (Ciaran Hinds), who seeks to control three Mother Boxes hidden on Earth. However, despite this group coming together, it could be too late for Earth to face a catastrophic new enemy.

With this being another film uniting several heroes, I can kinda compare this to The Avengers in a way. It could be called DC's version of said film. Back when the MCU was in its roots, Marvel decided to bring a group of unknown characters together after a solo film for each character. And when The Avengers came out, fans were going crazy for all their favorite heroes coming together. Now on the DC side, Justice League omits Marvel's treatment by bringing in all their characters after four movies. We have had Man of Steel, Batman v Superman Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and this past summer's smash hit Wonder Woman. And what does Warner Bros do? They introduce their team through some cameos in one film. Now don't get me wrong, I like where it's going. However I felt that was a bit rushed.

The film is directed by Zack Snyder of Batman v Superman and Man of Steel fame. However, due to a family issue, he immediately stepped down. And who takes his place during post production? Joss Whedon of The Avengers fame!!! And in any case, this movie has its faults.

With some people divided on whether this movie is good or not, I am actually one of the very few people who thinks this DCEU movie is actually really good. Not as great as Wonder Woman and not as good as the Ultimate version of Batman v Superman. But it is actually a lot better than the theatrical version of said film. And if one can argue that Rotten Tomatoes has their own crazed opinion on this movie, I feel more like one of the many fans who enjoyed Justice League.

In regards to the cast in the movie, everyone involved pretty much nailed their specific roles. Of course we have Ben Affleck once again as Batman. And it has just crossed my mind that Ben Affleck's version of the Dark Knight is probably a whole lot better than that of George Clooney's take on the character in Batman and Robin. In regards to the character, this continues the development of what direction he takes that started back in Batman v Superman. And it totally was nailed by Affleck's way and charisma to both Batman and Bruce Wayne.

When it comes to Diana Prince/Wonder Woman, the only actress who can play the role like no other is Gal Gadot who once again totally nails it!! From when we first saw her in Batman v Superman to her own solo movie this past summer, we now have her as one of the key members of the League. And from what I can see as Gadot nails the role once again, is that she is still as kick ass as when we first saw her. She just nails every scene she is in within this movie. Hopefully, Gadot will stick around for a while longer in this franchise because she is such a kick ass actress.

And of course there are three newcomers. We have Ezra Miller as Barry Allen/The Flash, Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman and Ray Fisher as Victor Stone/Cyborg. While some can give their own opinions about how well these three did in their respective roles, for the most part, I was somehow divided. I wasn't sure if these three would work. But the one that stood out for me the most was Aquaman. He was just an awesome new character. The other two didn't get me as much. Nothing more to say about that.

And without giving too much away, Henry Cavill also returns as Superman. Let's just say that he returns somewhere towards the climax of the movie.

And then there's the antagonist of the movie. We have Ciaran Hinds as Steppenwolf in this film. While some are divided as to whether he is a good villain or not, I am one of the people who is among those who didn't really think he stood out as a threat. He had his backstory, yes. But he wasn't as well developed as someone like Ares or General Zod in previous films. He just didn't blow me away.

Now in regards to the action and storytelling of this movie, the action is pretty good. Most of it doesn't take place till after the characters are introduced, but it's pretty well developed.

Now the story of the film, is somewhat similar to The Avengers. You have the big threat, you have your heroes, we've all seen this development before. I felt that it was a little bit rushed. If DC had done the same treatment Marvel does with their highly successful MCU, by developing their heroes in individual movies instead of smashing them all together, this would've been a whole lot better.

So in the end, Justice League is a pretty interesting movie. It has some fun action, humor, a pretty good story and it is just a good but not great superhero movie. I would say that this one is a bit better than what was given to us in Batman v Superman (Theatrical Cut).
