And the "I am Jesus" view is partially wrong. Superman is just a man trying to do the right thing. The messianic imagery it's how other people see him, how we see him. Superman doesn't see himself like that, nor does he really want to be seen like that. It's been decades since Superman has been shown to be perfect in the comics. Now he's a man who has to live with an image thrust upon him that's all but impossible to live up to and an image that also guarantees he will never be completely at home on Earth. As an Alien who has lost nearly his entire race he has little family. In the DCCU he has only his mother. He has plenty of everyday issues as Clark Kent that he also has to contend with. That perception of perfection is incorrect.
