The Wall-Crawler is one of Marvel's most prized and popular heroes, due to his wisecracking humour as well as his pure awesomeness. His agility, combined with his abilities makes him quite a difficult opponent to beat in a fight. Not to mention that Peter Parker is an extremely intelligent and quick-thinking guy, and can usually work his way around most problems.
Subsequently, it would take an equally crafty and skilled fighter in order to beat him in a fight. Here are my top 5 picks on the characters who have the potential to beat the Webslinger in a fight!
The Merc with a Mouth is famous for his constant witty remarks and the breaking of the fourth wall. Although he doesn't seem like it, Deadpool is one of the most dangerous characters in the Marvel universe, with his extreme healing factor, marksmanship, swordsmanship, and martial arts capabilities.
Deadpool and Spidey have often paired up to make a hilariously awesome duo. But considering that you can't really kill Deadpool, he stands a really good chance against Spidey, specially since Deadpool isn't afraid to play dirty. Although, it might be quite easy to distract him (all it really takes is one chimichanga), I'm sure it will turn out to be a match worth watching.
In case you haven't heard, Deadpool is in theatres. Go check it out if you haven't done so already. Oh and while you're at it, please tell the poor guy where to find Francis. He's quite upset about it.
He's the best there is at what he does. But what he does best isn't very nice. The Wolverine is a ruthless fighter, with a similar (but less active) healing factor to Deadpool. His body is fused with adamantium, the strongest metal in the Marvel universe, and is unbreakable once solid.
You won't like him when he's angry! Wolverine goes into a berserker rage, slashing and killing everything in his path. Plus I don't think that Spider webs would hold their ground for too long against adamantium claws... Trust me bub, you wouldn't want to face Wolverine in a fight.
Though yet to get a live-action debut on either television or film, the Black Panther is one of the best hand-to-hand combatants in the Marvel Universe. Ruler of the kingdom of Wakanda, Black Panther happens to have control over the supply of one of the most powerful metals on Earth - Vibranium. The same material out of which Captain America's shield is created (which can block Thor's hammer, btw).
Naturally, his suit is lined with vibranium as well. Add his ferocious combat skills and camouflaging techniques, he could easily take Spidey down if necessary.
Slade Wilson, a mercenary, is also one of the cruelest and best fighters in the DC Universe. Ranking amongst the likes of Batman and Lady Shiva, he is often considered to be one of the most toughest and resilient human beings in DC. He is also a super soldier like Captain America, enhanced by the mirakuru serum, which pushes his body to the pinnacle of human fitness and strength (he's as strong as about 10 men, with heightened speed, agility, stamina, and reflexes).
He is also a dead shot, master marksman, master in various forms of martial arts, swordsman, has a slight healing factor, is a genius and master tactician rivalling the likes of Batman.
Enough reason for you?
Okay, Nightwing might seem an unusual choice at first, specially considering I didn't put Batman on this list, but there's a very good reason why he is here and Batman isn't (not that I'm saying he can't beat Spidey).
Nightwing is also known as the "World's Greatest Acrobat" in the DC Universe. Born and raised in a circus as an acrobat, he was taken in by Bruce Wayne after his parents were killed. Eventually, he trained under Bruce and became the first Robin. Although quite rivalling his skills as a detective or a combatant, Dick Grayson is WAY more agile, faster, and is an equally intelligent tactician.
His agility would allow him to match Spiderman's moves better than Bruce. Not to mention that he was deemed most worthy to wield the Cowl. That has got to count for something, right?
