J.J. Abrams spoke to reporters following the moving tribute to Debbie Reynolds and her daughter #CarrieFisher at the #GoldenGlobes, sharing his moving memories of the #StarWars rebel, who he says is "deeply missed".
The director befriended Fisher in 1996, and the two worked together on #TheForceAwakens. According to Abrams, Fisher was "like no other":
"Working with her, I got to know her better because it was as intense as it was. I feel truly blessed that I had the opportunity to work with her and be a friend".
Abrams attested to the powerful presence she'd had on the lives of both friends and fans, a sentiment that seems to be shared by all who knew her:
"She was extraordinary and it’s impossible to to really quantify the impact she had on not just legions of movies and books, but also her friends."
His words mirrored his official statement on the star's death, which he posted to Twitter with a hand-written note in December:
