The first trailer for #UrbanMyths has finally dropped, and it's everything we'd expected and more; A quirky, comical retelling of some of the most hilarious celebrity anecdotes of all time. Take a look:
Branding itself as a series of "true...ish stories", the upcoming retro series has a serious Wes Anderson vibe to it. Unfortunately, it's not Cary Grant's LSD visuals that's got the internet talking, but something far more controversial: Joseph Fiennes being cast as Michael Jackson.

Every since casting was announced, there's been outrage over Fiennes portraying the King of Pop. Why? Well, let's break it down.
This is Joseph Fiennes. He's an accomplished actor from England. You may remember him from his previous roles in Elizabeth, or maybe American Horror Story— not to mention his famous brother, actor Ralph Fiennes.
And this is singer Michael Jackson. He was, undeniably, a black man. His appearance changed drastically throughout his career, but it wasn't entirely out of choice. Jackson suffered from a condition called vitiligo, which causes skin to lose its pigment— hence the lightening of his skin.
He also broke his nose after a backflip gone wrong early in his career, which required a nose job. Whilst filming a commercial, a light exploded above Jackson's head; his hair caught fire, requiring him to undergo hair transplants. Later on in life, Jackson became somewhat addicted to plastic surgery, and he continued to significantly modify his appearance.
As much as Jackson's appearance changed from when the above picture was taken to the time when Urban Myths is set, his ethnicity didn't. And that's what a lot of people are finding problematic: A white, English guy is now playing one of the most famous black entertainers of all time.
