A scene from the upcoming Kong: Skull Island has hinted at a possible cameo from reptilian alpha predator Godzilla, much to the shock of Samuel L. Jackson's character Preston Packard.
The clip shows John Goodman's character confessing that not only was he already well aware of Kong's existence on the island, but he has ulterior motives for being there. He's part of an agency called MONARCH, and his mission is to research "ancient species" intent on taking back the planet from mankind.

Who Is MONARCH?
MONARCH investigates reports of "massive unidentified terrestrial organisms", hunting them down in an effort to save humanity from certain destruction. They appeared in the 2014 film Godzilla, and their presence in #KongSkullIsland again confirms that not only is this a prequel to #Godzilla, but the official kick-off to another installment in the MonsterVerse— with Kong's future ties to Godzilla possibly being revealed.
There Will Be A Post-Credits Scene
Kellvin Chavez, who saw a preview screening of Kong: Skull Island, gave prospective viewers a hot tip:
Marvel fans will be more than familiar with this tradition. While many are quick to get out of their seat and leave the cinema once the credits start rolling, those who remain seated get to see a glimpse at what's to come for the franchise.
It looks like this tradition may be carried over to the #MonsterVerse, with a potential glimpse of the upcoming 2019 Godzilla: King of Monsters— or maybe even the 2020 sequel Godzilla vs. Kong!
A few weeks ago, producer Alex Garcia reminded Cinema Blend that Skull Island is set 30 years before Godzilla— who knows what could have occurred in that time?
