Given the sheer amount of backstory that accompanies the epic series, is ripe for a prequel. Due to the enormous cast of characters, the idea of a spin-off has been banded around. There are a number of endearing but minor characters that fans would love to see get their time in the sun.

However, are now considering a prequel series. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, HBO's Casey Bloys had a lot to say regarding the on-screen future of Westoros. Bloys is quoted as saying: "A prequel feels like it has less pressure on it". Bloys said the source material "Gives you areas in which to say to a writer, 'If you were going to do this, then go flesh it out,' and we'll see what comes back".

There are many fascinating plot lines from the universe's history that we only hear about second hand. Personally, I would love to see an adaptation of Robert's Rebellion. That would be a crowd pleaser, there is a lot of action and the events directly link to the main series.

Seeing the Targaryens during their reign in would be fascinating. We are only used to seeing the last vestiges of their bloodline as she attempts to build an army. Although, we did get to see the before their destruction briefly in season 6. The flashback scene to the Tower of Joy incident saw Ned take on Targaryen knights.

It would be great to see Ned and Robert in their prime. We would see the version of Robert Baratheon that was a fierce warrior, not the aged and bloating drunk we see in Game of Thrones. There are plenty of twists in the tale and easily enough content to make a mini series.

Perhaps Robert's Rebellion is too obvious a choice, maybe an origin story about the White Walkers would be more interesting. What would you like to see? Let me know in the comments section. Subscribe for more on TV, movies and combat sports.
