#Marvel fans rejoiced when Spider-Man's entry to the wider #MCU was announced. A deal between Sony, who owned the rights to the character, and Marvel was instrumental in this. However, Peter Parker's inclusion in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may be short lived.
#SpiderManHomecoming hits cinemas this summer and a sequel is guaranteed. However, producer Amy Pascal claims the sequel will be Spider-Man's last outing as an MCU character. This comes to us via Cosmic Book News.
She had this to say regarding the fate of Peter Parker:
"One of the things that I think is so amazing about this experience is that you don't have studios deciding to work together to make a film very often. In fact, it may never happen again after we do the sequel."
#CaptainAmerica and #IronMan appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming — does this mean Marvel is getting the most out of their partnership with Sony while it lasts? Another piece of evidence that adds weight to this is that Sony are building their own universe around Spider-Man. Rumor is that they will make solo films focusing on #Venom and other antagonists.
The question is: Does anyone really want to see a Black Cat movie? Sony and Marvel's deal over the character of Spider-Man should be maintained. Sharing the film rights to Spider-Man is the most lucrative move for both companies.
