It's hard to tell who's more crazy... me, or everyone else. Aspiring Screen Writer and Speculator of Everything. Feel free to shoot me an em

Ah, 2016 is finally over. While this year has been rather... mixed in reviews let's say, it doesn't mean we should despair. Sure the world of cinema hit a few bumps this year, including the DCEU polarising fans worldwide and many big blockbusters failing to excite at the box office, but that's all the more reason to look forward and get hyped about the massive line-up coming to our screens next year! Let's preview a whole year worth of film in what I like to call an uber article! Just to be clear before we start, the release dates are all UK, not US.

1. Assassins Creed!

Release Date: January 1st.

Stars: Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons.

Assassins Creed has pretty much everybody hyped right now, and is highly expected to break the trend of poor video game to film adaptions and kick 2017 off with a stellar blockbuster. It's definitely one to watch to kick off the new year right, especially since it has early screeners going absolutely mental right now!

2. Silence!

Release Date: January 1st.

Stars: Adam Driver, Andrew Garfield, Liam Neeson.

Martin Scorsese is some sort of film guru, and everything the man touches excites people, but this looks like something incredibly new from the legendary director of Wolf of Wall Street and The Departed. Silence stars Garfield and Driver as two Jesuit priests who travel to Japan to locate their mentor in a time when Catholics were outlawed in the country. An exciting thriller in the offing, this is surely not one to miss!

3. La La Land!

Release Date: January 13th.

Stars: Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, Rosemarie DeWitt.

Could we be about to see the next great musical? I haven't heard this much hype over a film of this genre since Les Miserables. Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling are an incredible pair, and having seen them work magic together on the big screen before, I find this a very exciting project. Early reviews have this ticking all the boxes for a major hit, and you better not let it pass by!

4. Underworld: Blood Wars!

Release Date: January 13th.

Stars: Kate Beckinsale, Theo James, Lara Pulver.

Oh yes! The standard three year waiting period for the next instalment in the never ending battle between Vampires and Lycans has been stretched to four this time around, but that's no reason to miss out on the incredible action Kate Beckinsale hasn't yet failed to bring to the screen in every film of this series, plus we must surely be getting near the end of this franchise and five films in we know it's time to go big or go home, so don't miss this one either!

5. Manchester By The Sea!

Release Date: January 13th.

Stars: Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams, Kyle Chandler.

I'll admit, January 13th is going to be one crowded weekend at the cinema, but I fully suggest that you check out as many of these films as you can! And this one especially, as in the words of one critic this film "Elevates Casey Affleck to one of the greats". The tale of a man forced to take care of his teenage nephew when his brother dies is set to be an emotional thrill ride, hell even the plot summary has me reaching for the tissues!

6. Live By Night!

Release Date: January 13th.

Stars: Ben Affleck, Zoe Saldana, Chris Sullivan.

Rounding out the rather incredible line-up of films all being released in the same week is Live by Night, starring the incomparable Ben Affleck, whose career has been on a hot streak that can do no wrong in the last few years, albeit Batman v Superman wasn't exactly what many fans wanted, a universal opinion seemed to be love for Batfleck, and now he is suiting up in 1930's America as a member of an organised crime group. How could it possibly go wrong?

7. XxX: Return Of Xander Cage!

Release Date: January 19th.

Stars: Vin Diesel, Nina Dobrev, Samuel L Jackson.

Another man on a hot streak between his Fast and Furious and Riddick franchises over the last few years is Vin Diesel. The man loves to lead an action franchise, and now he returns to an old friend in Xander Cage, an extreme sports athlete turned mega-spy, so surely this film will at least bring the action and some great one-liners if nothing else.

8. Lion!

Release Date: January 20th.

Stars: Dev Patel, Nicole Kidman, Rooney Mara.

An intriguing prospect now, as the always excellent Dev Patel brings his talents to the screen in the form of a man who sets out to find the family he lost twenty five years previously. What could look for Oscar nods, especially coming out at this time of the year, is likely to be another emotional rollercoaster, and will surely be worth a trip to the cinema.

9. Hacksaw Ridge!

Release Date: January 27th.

Stars: Sam Worthington, Andrew Garfield, Luke Bracey.

The inspiring true story of Desmond Doss, who joined the army as a medic but refused to fire a gun, and became the first man to win the medal of honour without firing a shot. Andrew Garfield, set for a potentially excellent month between this and Silence, brings Doss to life in what looks set to be an inspiring and tragic film which is absolutely can't miss.

10. Sing!

Release Date: January 27th.

Stars: Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane.

And what better to get rid of those end of January blues that you get right after giving up on going to the gym for the year than with a lighthearted, animated comedy? Don't be fooled by the name Seth MacFarlane being on the cast list, this is one that you can bring the kids to. The story centres on a Koala trying to save his theatre by producing a huge singing competition, and who doesn't want to see that? A koala voiced by Matthew McConaughey? Shut up and take my money!

11. T2: Trainspotting!

Release Date: January 27th.

Stars: Ewan McGregor, Kelly MacDonald, Jonny Lee Miller.

Ah yes. Living in Scotland I can say that Trainspotting is essentially accurate (mostly joking) and I very much look forward to seeing the saga of Renton, Sick Boy and the rest of the gang when T2 hits cinemas next month. Be honest, can you think of a good reason to miss what is sure to be an epic?

12. Resident Evil: The Final Chapter!

Release Date: February 3rd.

Stars: Milla Jovovich, Ruby Rose, Ali Larter.

Here it is. I have to wonder if this will really be the final chapter knowing this franchise, but I feel like it's true and I am excited to see another instalment, especially with the addition of Ruby Rose to the cast list! Milla Jovovich will bring Alice to the screen one final time to destroy the Umbrella Corporation once and for all... probably, and there's no way you can miss one last, epic zombie slaying thrill ride!

13. Gold!

Release Date: February 3rd.

Stars: Bryce Dallas Howard, Matthew McConaughey, Toby Kebbell.

This one slipped under the radar a little originally, but I caught the trailer and now I think it's a must see! Matthew McConaughey stars as a man down on his luck who strikes a gold mine in the jungles of Indonesia, and the fun just rides a wave from there! Not one to be forgotten about in this crazy list, McConaughey gained 45 pounds and shaved his head for this role, so it's the real deal!

14. Rings!

Release Date: February 3rd.

Stars: Vincent D'Onofrio, Johnny Galecki, Aimee Teegarden.

Ah the first of several franchise horror films on this list. Rings brings something new to a franchise which hasn't found much success recently. The entire premise of Ring is suited to modern culture, with so many screens available to invade nowadays, and the idea of it attacking so many people at once brings something new to this whole concept that you really don't want to miss!

15. Fifty Shades: Darker!

Release Date: February 10th.

Stars: Jamie Dornan, Dakota Johnson, Kim Basinger.

I... really didn't want to put this film on the list. Sadly, millions will pour in to see it no matter what I do, so I'll say that it is highly anticipated and maybe the addition of Kim Basinger to the cast will do something interesting, but frankly if you fancy missing this one nobody will hold it against you.

16. The Lego Batman Movie!

Release Date: February 10th.

Stars: Will Arnett, Zach Galifianakis, Ralph Fiennes.

Especially when you could be seeing this instead! The Lego Movie was a huge success, primarily because it took some crazy ideas and put them together to really make everything awesome (see what I did there? It's okay you'll get that one later). Will Arnett was hilarious as Batman in that film, and with the talent on call for this spin-off, you can be sure that this will challenge the great Christopher Nolan himself for the greatest Batman film of all (that may have been exaggerated).

17. Fences!

Release Date: February 17th.

Stars: Denzel Washington, Viola Davis, Stephen Henderson.

Did someone mention Oscars? A vague description and an inspiring trailer make this seem like Oscar bait, and the Academy will snap it up, but that doesn't mean it's not going to be amazing anyway. Denzel Washington stars as a father trying to raise his family amongst the race relations of America in the 1950's. Surely this will be a masterpiece right? Here's hoping!

18. The Founder!

Release Date: February 17th.

Stars: Michael Keaton, Linda Cardellini, Nick Offerman.

Surely a classic in the making. The Founder tells the story of the Founder of McDonalds, Ray Kroc. The story of deception and betrayal leading to the fast food giant sounds fascinating. Why go see it? Because Michael Keaton is awesome, and will probably turn this film into a cross between The Wolf Of Wall Street and The Social Network.

19. The Great Wall!

Release Date: February 17th.

Stars: Matt Damon, Willem Dafoe, Pedro Pascal.

A movie based on the idea that.... the Great Wall of China was built to keep out a race of aliens? Monsters? Something like that. I mean... Matt Damon and Willem Dafoe pretty much guarantee this will have solid acting performances, and a bounty of action and adventure, but I would still be slightly wary of this one, which could be a flop waiting to happen.

20. John Wick: Chapter 2!

Release Date: February 17th.

Stars: Keane Reeves, Ruby Rose, Bridget Moynahan.

How could you possibly miss this? Bound by a blood oath, John is forced to travel to Rome to take on some of the worlds deadliest assassins. How could you not want to see this film? It's going to be absolutely fantastic! Possibly the best action film of the year if done right!

21. Patriots Day!

Release Date: February 24th.

Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Melissa Benoist, Michelle Monaghan.

An intriguing true story about the events leading up to and following the 2013 Boston Marathon attack. Likely to bring tears to your eyes as it hits a little close to home, this tells the tale of the aftermath to the attack, including the city wide manhunt for the terrorists.

22. Logan!

Release Date: March 3rd.

Stars: Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart, Boyd Holbrook.

Could this be the greatest superhero film of all time? The setting, the build and the feeling of the film just from the trailer makes me believe it could be true. I have never been this excited for a film coming out of the X-Men universe, and yes that includes Deadpool. Hugh Jackman has made Wolverine one of the most popular superheroes in the world, and has etched his name in pop culture forever with the role, but now it's time to step down and go out with an incredible bang, this is not one you can possibly miss!

23. Kong: Skull Island!

Release Date: March 10th.

Stars: Tom Hiddleston, Brie Larson, Toby Kebbell.

No matter how much you feel like it could be the same as the last King Kong film, you have to tell yourself that you're wrong. This film looks stunning, and has the cast to make it fantastic, as well as coming out at the right time, just after Hollywood proved it can get Godzilla done right.

24. Beauty and the Beast!

Release Date: March 17th.

Stars: Emma Watson, Dan Stevens, Luke Evans.

I don't need to bother hyping this instant classic in waiting, Disney had already proved through the likes of Maleficent and Cinderella that they aren't just remaking their animated classics in live action for the money, they're adding to the stories we all know and love in new and exciting ways. The original Beauty and the Beast was actually nominated for the best picture Oscar, I wouldn't be surprised if this one follows suit, just go see it, trust me on this one.

25. Get Out!

Release Date: March 17th.

Stars: Allison Williams, Keith Stanfield, Catherine Keener.

Oh God no, I'm not watching that trailer again! I keep telling myself that, every time I see it somewhere, and every single damn time I've watched it and been more scared than I was the time before. Dammit I just did it again, this film looks terrifying, and so different from the run of the mill horror film nowadays that it definitely deserves a spot on this list, it could flop but it could also be a modern horror classic!

26. Table 19!

Release Date: March 17th.

Stars: Anna Kendrick, Lisa Kudrow, Wyatt Russell.

If you love a good wedding film with a happy romantic ending... this may not be what you're looking for. Ever been invited to a wedding and felt like you don't really know the people well enough to be there? Well that's what this film is all about! When a bunch of people discover their table at the wedding reception is for people the bride and groom don't really like, they decide to have fun anyway... and maybe steal the cake. A hilarious comedy in the waiting, I highly recommend this!

27. Power Rangers!

Release Date: March 24th.

Stars: Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston, Dacre Montgomery.

I just... I just don't know. Am I excited? Yes. But does it make me feel nostalgic? Not really. I watched a lot of Power Rangers in my day, and this doesn't feel the same so far, it feels like something else. Mind you, whatever it is I still want to see it and it may turn out to relate to the original show much more than it first appears to!

28. Life!

Release Date: March 24th.

Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson.

Don't you just hate it when you finally discover life beyond earth only for it to somehow start infecting members of the crew? I know I do, and this thriller looks set to pit the talented crew of a space station against one another when put into a tricky situation as they discover the first life on Mars, but can't tell what it's doing and to who.

29. A Cure For Wellness!

Release Date: March 24th.

Stars: Dane DeHaan, Jason Isaacs, Mia Goth.

I have hardly any idea what this film is about from the above trailer, and that's one of the reasons I'm excited about it! A young executive is sent to retrieve the CEO of his company from a "wellness center" in the Swiss Alps, and discovers something horrific about the true nature of the place.

30. Ghost In The Shell!

Release Date: March 31st.

Stars: Scarlett Johansson, Michael Wincott, Michael Pitt.

Surrounded by controversy in the early stages of development, Ghost in the Shell has come through all that to the point where I'm finally able to get excited at the prospect. Why does Scarlett Johansson keep getting cast as androids/robots/disembodied voices? I don't know but she's excellent at it and this is set to be an excellent action flick and so far looks to be quite faithful to the original anime!

31. Boss Baby!

Release Date: April 7th.

Stars: Alec Baldwin, Steve Buscemi, Lisa Kudrow.

Alec Baldwin stars as a... baby, who carries a briefcase, wears a suit and... talks? Yep, his seven year old brother, after discovering what he can do, teams up with him to take down an evil CEO. Why should you go see this? Because it's Alec Baldwin as a talking baby!

32. The Fate Of The Furious!

Release Date: April 14th.

Stars: Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Charline Theron.

Well nobody saw this coming. The franchise built upon family and loyalty (and fast cars) takes away one of its key elements as Dominic Toretto turns on his crew, but what does that mean? The mystery over why Dom has turned, the excellent new villain in Charlize Theron and the return of bad ass characters played by Jason Statham and Kurt Russell gets me incredibly ready for the first third of a new trilogy of fast and furious films.

33. A Dogs Purpose!

Release Date: April 21st.

Stars: Dennis Quaid, Josh Gad, Britt Robertson.

Oh God, you should miss this one if you have a gentle heart, because only ruthless killers will still have dry eyes by the end of this one. If you thought one dog dying in Marley and Me was bad, wait until you get a load of this. One dog explores what his purpose might be over the course of many lifetimes. It's going to be so sad and so good!

34. Their Finest!

Release Date: April 21st.

Stars: Gemma Arterton, Sam Claflin, Bill Nighy.

World War II films are all the rage historically speaking right now, and this one looks set to be another great addition. Gemma Arterton and Sam Claflin star as a British film crew trying to boost morale with a propaganda film in the midst of the Blitzkrieg. Set to be both comedic and romantic, this should provide a laugh and a tear or two maybe!

35. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2!

Release Date: April 28th.

Stars: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Kurt Russell.

I'm hooked on a franchise! James Gunn looks to replicate his magical feat from 2014, when he took a ragtag group of Marvel characters nobody had ever heard of and made one of the greatest Marvel films to date. Now he expands, introducing new characters like Mantis, Ego the Living Planet and Baby Groot! The entire film looks to be a romp of epic proportions, and it will probably match up to the very best Marvel films!

36. The Zookeepers Wife!

Release Date: May 5th.

Stars: Jessica Chastain, Daniel Bruhl, Johan Heidenbergh.

As the second world war began to overshadow the entirety of Europe, and the Jewish people began to flee from Poland, the wife of a zookeeper decided to try and hide a group of Jews from the Nazis, including her own husband. This looks like a thrilling ride, full of suspenseful moments, which the likes of Daniel Bruhl and Jessica Chastain will probably pull off wonderfully.

37. Baywatch!

Release Date: May 12th.

Stars: Dwayne Johnson, Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario.

Comedy of the year potential comes along with the huge talents gathered in this film and the premise we all know and love. How could someone make an epic comedy about lifeguards? Same way you turn anything into an epic comedy, make it a buddy cop film. I'm not complaining, Dwayne Johnson is so charismatic that he could team with a stone in a buddy cop film and it would be gold (and then it could be called Rock and The Rock and my life would be complete). If this isn't an amazing comedy, I'll be incredibly shocked, and so would Dwayne Johnson, whose toilet trips probably have more financial success than most comedies.

38. King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword!

Release Date: May 12th.

Stars: Charlie Hunnam, Katie McGrath, Annabelle Wallis.

A retelling of the classic King Arthur story puts Charlie Hunnam of Sons of Anarchy fame in the boots of the man raised on the streets but destined to become King. However, he has to fight for what he believes in first, and I personally can't wait to check out the first King Arthur film since the epic Clive Owen version in 2004. This incredible cast also includes the likes of Jude Law, Djimon Hounsou and Eric Bana, so it is sure to be a spectacle!

39. Alien: Covenant!

Release Date: May 19th.

Stars: Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, James Franco.

Ah, try two. After the first Alien prequel in Prometheus didn't quite go down so well with audiences, Alien: Covenant seeks to work as more of an actual prequel, including Xenomorphs along the way apparently. This promises to be a much better effort, especially with Katherine Waterston and James Franco jumping on board, as well as the returning Michael Fassbender as the android David.

40. Pirates Of The Caribbean: Salazar's Revenge!

Release Date: May 26th.

Stars: Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Javier Bardem.

Thank God, lately if Johnny Depp isn't playing Captain Jack Sparrow then he's not doing well, so we should just let him keep playing the swashbuckling captain of the Black Pearl. In the latest effort, the franchise seeks to bring back the feeling of the first two films, when the reviews were still good, by returning Orlando Bloom, making the villain a ghost again and having a little bit of horror and mystery about the story as well as the adventure and comedic escapades.

41. Captain Underpants!

Credit to Dreamworks Animation
Credit to Dreamworks Animation

Release Date: May 26th.

Stars: Kevin Hart, Nick Kroll, Kristen Schall.

Based on the popular series of kids books, two children hypnotise their school principal into becoming their comic book creation, the kind-hearted and elastic banded Captain Underpants. I mean... it may be... interesting. I imagine it will be heavily catered towards children, as Dreamworks have continued to do more and more in the last few years, however that doesn't mean that it may not be a bit of fun for us adults too.

42. Wonder Woman!

Release Date: June 2nd

Stars: Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright

Ah, here we go. It's make or break time for the DCEU in 2017, after a 2016 that promised two huge commercial successes and fell far below their hopes and dreams, DC's attempts to use an easy bake oven to cook up a cinematic universe have fallen flat. Many fans say Wonder Woman will be better, although that's what they said about Suicide Squad. Frankly it seems like Wonder Woman probably will be better, as a solo film is much easier to navigate, and everything we've seen in the trailers looks very accurate to the character. However, be wary, keep expectations a little lower this time, and be careful.

43. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Long Haul!

Release Date: June 2nd.

Stars: Alicia Silverstone, Tom Everett Scott, Joshua Hoover.

I mean... yeah it will certainly be something. This time around, Greg convinces his family to take a road trip to his Grandmother's 90th birthday party as a cover to try and attend a nearby gaming convention. I am sure that... comedic hijinks will ensue.

44. The Mummy!

Release Date: June 9th.

Stars: Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis.

Well... that trailer is something. I'm.... not quite sure what's going on here. I was expecting a reboot of The Mummy starring Brendan Fraser, or a sequel, or... something other than this. I have to say, I'll probably go see this because it intrigues me so much, but I'm really not sure what's coming, and I'm putting some faith in the fact that Tom Cruise can make a decent action film out of most things.

45. World War Z 2!

Credit to Paramount Pictures
Credit to Paramount Pictures

Release Date: June 9th.

Stars: Brad Pitt.

Not much is known about the sequel to the 2013 thriller starring Brad Pitt as a guy who seemed to somehow become embroiled in a political web of lies during a zombie apocalypse. Nevertheless, World War Z was a great success, and if they somehow manage to properly keep the story going with a sequel, I'll get on the hype train!

46. Gifted!

Release Date: June 16th.

Stars: Chris Evans, Jenny Slate, Octavia Spencer.

I love Chris Evans as Captain America and hate the idea that one day he won't be in that role forever, but when the alternative is roles like this one, I think I'll be able to live with it, because this looks absolutely incredible. Evans stars as a man trying to look after his incredibly intelligent niece after her mother dies, and has to go through a custody battle with the girl's grandmother.

47. Rock That Body!

Credit to Universal Pictures
Credit to Universal Pictures

Release Date: June 16th.

Stars: Kate McKinnon, Scarlett Johansson, Zoe Kravitz.

Who can resist a female ensemble comedy that includes the talents of Scarlett Johansson, Zoe Kravitz, Kate McKinnon, Demi Moore, Jillian Bell and more? It sounds hilarious, as does the plotline of "A male stripper ends up dead at a Miami beach house during a bachelorette weekend" so I'll definitely be checking this one out and fully expet to be laughing out loud throughout!

48. Transformers: The Last Knight!

Release Date: June 23rd.

Stars: Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Hopkins, Laura Haddock.

I mean... what is there really left to say? Transformers and Fast and Furious have both realised that eventually to keep the interest up you'll have to turn the main character evil, or at least make everyone think that's what you're doing. I expect Michael Bay to get his usual dosage of explosions and ridiculous CGI robots hammering each other for two hours, but hell who am I kidding I'll probably go see it because it's always interesting to see if it can get any crazier.

49. The Beguiled!

Credit to Universal Pictures
Credit to Universal Pictures

Release Date: June 23rd.

Stars: Colin Farrell, Elle Fanning, Kirsten Dunst.

A remake of the above shown Clint Eastwood film from 1971, this story focuses on a Union soldier who gets trapped while injured in a Confederate girl's boarding school, and begins to seduce each of the women there so he can convince them to turn on each other. Colin Farrell may not exactly be Clint Eastwood, but with Sofia Coppola at the helm and with female talents like Elle Fanning, Nicole Kidman and Kirsten Dunst, I have high hopes that this will be a successful remake.

50. Despicable Me 3!

Release Date: June 30th.

Stars: Steve Carrell, Kristen Wiig, Miranda Cosgrove.

Yes! Minions was a lot of fun, but we always wanted the whole family back for another instalment. Lucy and Gru, still working for the Anti-Villain League, have to deal with a new threat when Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker), a man of little fashion sense and great skill, appears to troule them. With the return of all your favourite characters, this is sure to be another excellent addition to the franchise!

51. Spider-Man: Homecoming!

Release Date: July 7th.

Stars: Tom Holland, Robert Downey Jr, Marisa Tomei.

Marvel are firing three huge films at us next year, including the first solo(ish) film for Tom Holland's Spider-Man. Peter is still in high school, dealing with everyday problems as well as trying to be Spider-Man and not piss off his new mentor Tony Stark. With both Vulture and the Shocker to deal with, Spidey is sure to bring a huge amount of action and comedy. Also, with Michael Keaton and Robert Downey Jr both on the cast list, who could pass this up?

52. War For The Planet Of The Apes!

Release Date: July 14th.

Stars: Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson, Judy Greer.

It looks like the end of our little journey into the days before the planet was totally ruled by apes is coming to an end. With the humans whipped up into a frenzy over the fear of extinction, a general convinces them there is no option but all-out war with the apes. Caesar and his race are about to face an epic final battle!

53. Cars 3!

Release Date: July 14th.

Stars: Owen Wilson, Brian Fee, Robert L Baird.

A rather haunting first trailer has me from the almost not caring at all stage to the place where I'll be clamouring in line for this one! Lightning McQueen appears to be horrifically injured, and the third instalment in the Cars franchise may be leaving behind the secret agent story to focus on racing again, with Lightning maybe on the road to recovery throughout.

54. Dunkirk!

Release Date: July 21st.

Stars: Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, Mark Rylance.

Here comes Christopher Nolan, watch out everybody. Nolan's latest epic (they're all epics) depicts the day that the British landed on Dunkirk during World War II. A stunning spectacle, we could see Nolan's best film yet in this, as he paints the story of how the entire world changed at the same moment the war did. This also features Harry Styles of One Direction, who Nolan called one of the most talented young actors he's ever worked with!

55. The Dark Tower!

Credit to Colombia Pictures
Credit to Colombia Pictures

Release Date: July 28th.

Stars: Matthew McConaughey, Idris Elba, Katheryn Winnick.

Finally! For many years we've heard that a Dark Tower adaption is coming. The original book by Stephen King focuses on the gunslinger (Elba) who roams a western style world as he searches for the dark tower, thinking that if he finds it he will be able to save his dying world. Rumours circled for many years about a film adaption of this epic book by Stephen King finally coming to pass, so the expectation is for an excellent film!

56. Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets!

Release Date: August 4th.

Stars: Cara Delevingne, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman.

Remember the last sci-fi "epic" that looked like this? I do, it was called Jupiter Ascending, and it had two excellent actors in it yet ended up being pretty terrible. This CGI infested film looks like it could be one of the flops of the year, but I have been surpised before by ones like this, and I hold out hope that it could pull it off and be great!

57. The Coldest City!

Credit to Warner Bros Pictures
Credit to Warner Bros Pictures

Release Date: August 11th.

Stars: Sofia Boutella, Charline Theron, James McAvoy.

Charlize Theron AKA Imperator Furiosa takes her talents to Berlin during the Cold War as an MI6 agent who sets out to investigate the murder of a fellow agent and recover a missing list of double agents. Theron, alongside the likes of James McAvoy and Sofia Boutella, should make this an epic cold war spy thriler!

58. The Hitman's Bodyguard!

Credit to 20th Century Fox
Credit to 20th Century Fox

Release Date: August 18th.

Stars: Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L Jackson, Salma Hayek.

Ryan Reynolds, a red hot commodity off the back of Deadpool, stars in a buddy cop film where the world's top bodyguard has to protect a world famous hitman who is set to testify at the International Court of Justice. Sure to provide huge action sequences and a lot of comedy, this should be brilliant fun!

59. Baby Driver!

Credit to Walt Disney Pictures
Credit to Walt Disney Pictures

Release Date: August 18th.

Stars: Lily James, Jon Bernthal, Kevin Spacey.

After being coerced into working for a crime boss, a young getaway driver is forced to take part in a dangerous heist. Not much more than that is known so far about this crime thriller, but with such an amazing cast I'm looking forward to seeing more about it in the next few months!

60. American Made!

Credit to Paramount Pictures
Credit to Paramount Pictures

Release Date: August 25th.

Stars: Tom Cruise, Lola Kirke, Domhnall Gleeson.

Tom Cruise reunited with Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Lyman to star as a pilot finding work with both the CIA and as a drug runner in the 1980s. Of course, this isn't the kind of idea that will work out for him, and hijinks are likely to ensue in this crime thriller.

61. It!

Credit to New Line Cinema
Credit to New Line Cinema

Release Date: September 8th.

Stars: Bill Skarsgard, Javier Botet, Finn Wolfhard.

Sometimes a reboot isn't necessarily a bad thing, and this one looks quite promising! Stephen King is a master of horror, and his books are a goldmine opportunity for Hollywood to try and make an excellent horror film, but they don't often work out well critically. Nevertheless, they continue to try, and this, one of King's greatest works, should provide a great basis for the film. It focuses on a group of people who fight an evil lurking in their town as children and again as adults. I've read this book, and by the power of Greyskull it is terrifying!

62. Granite Mountain!

Credit to ABC News
Credit to ABC News

Release Date: September 22nd.

Stars: Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jeff Bridges.

Based on a horrifying true story it focuses on the men who fought the raging fire in Arizona in 2013. The fire, which claimed the lives of 19 firefighters, was absolutely uncontrollable for days, and this dramatic tale should be emotional and visually stunning.

63. Kingsman: The Golden Circle!

Release Date: September 29th.

Stars: Taron Egerton, Julianne Moore, Jeff Bridges.

I am so excited for this one! When Kingsman came out in 2014, it shocked the world by being one of the most enjoyable films of the entire year! Now Eggsy and Merlin are hampered in their attempts to rebuild the Kingsman service by an attack on their headquarters, which leads them to having to work with their American equivalent, the Statesman Service.

Release Date: September 29th.

Stars: Nina Dobrev, Charlotte McKinney, Diego Luna.

A reboot of the 1990 film of the same name, this surrounds four medical students who experiment on near-death experiences that involve past tragedies until it starts to jeopardize their lives by bringing back manifestations of their past sins with them. A dramatic and terrifying thriller, this should be excellent to see.

65. Blade Runner: 2049!

Release Date: October 6th.

Stars: Harrison Ford, Jared Leto, Ryan Gosling.

With a fascinating first teaser just released, I think many people will be intrigued by this better late than never sequel to the sci-fi classic Blade Runner. Harrison Ford returns, but apparently has been out of a job, which has been taken over by Ryan Gosling's newcomer in his absence.

Release Date: October 13th.

Stars: Breck Eisner, Nick Antosca, Aaron Guzikowski.

Of course there is. Why wouldn't there be a Friday the 13th film released on Friday the 13th? So far this one hasn't even attempted to differentiate itself from the mass of films that have come before it, so yeah, go for the simple joys of murderous hockey mask men.

67. The Snowman!

Release Date: October 13th.

Stars: Michael Fassbender, Rebecca Ferguson, Chloe Sevigny.

Michael Fassbender stars as a detective who has to investigate the disappearance of a woman whose scarf is found wrapped around an ominous looking snowman. Set to be an exciting thriller, Fassbender always manages to get us on the edge of our seats, and I'm sure that he will do it again.

68. The Lego Ninjago Movie!

Release Date: October 13th.

Stars: Olivia Munn, Dave Franco, Justin Theroux.

The most exciting prospect for a animated karate based film since Kung Fu Panda, this has absolutely no expectation involved with it, but if you have kids it is sure to provide them with enjoyment and possibly give you some cheap laughs as well, so why not give it a go? I admit, I thought about the same when I walked into The Lego Movie, and everything in that was awesome! (Yes, that was intentional and I apologise).

69. Saw: Legacy!

Release Date: October 20th.

Stars: Tobin Bell, Michael Spierig, Peter Spierig.

What happened to that last one being the final chapter? The franchise wasn't quite milked dry, so it's time for another one. Not much is known about the plot yet, but leaked set photos show John Kramer's grave dug up, so someone is either copying him or another one of his henchmen is at work. Either way, expect classic Saw traps and tricks all the way!

70. Geostorm!

Release Date: October 20th.

Stars: Katheryn Winnick, Ed Harris, Gerard Butler.

In what appears to be a double thriller, a man heads into space to stop a storm of epic proportions from forming at the same time as his brother uncovers a plot to assassinate the president. Certainly hard to pull off correctly, but by no means impossible, this is definitely an interesting one to check out late next year, especially with the likes of Butler, Harris and Winnick in on it.

71. War With Grandpa!

Release Date: October 20th.

Stars: Marisa Tomei, Robert De Niro, Christopher Walken.

Upset that he is being forced to share a room with his grandfather, young Peter decides to engage in all out war in an attempt to regain it for himself. Enter hijinks. I don't know, it'll probably be pretty fun but honestly this one could crash out of cinemas in a week and a half too. Nevertheless, have you ever seen a bad Robert De Niro comedy? Exactly.

72. Thor: Ragnarok!

Release Date: October 27th.

Stars: Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Tom Hiddleston.

Set to be a Marvel epic, Chris Hemsworth returns after four previous films as the incredible Thor to face off against a host of new characters, including Hela, Skurge the Executioner and Grandmaster. The likes of Jeff Goldblum, Karl Urban and Cate Blanchett being added to the castlist make this a surefire hit, especially with Doctor Strange and Hulk both appearing as well. This could be the Marvel film of the year even with new Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy films set for release!

73. Insidious: Chapter 4!

Release Date: November 3rd.

Stars: Javier Botet, Angus Sampson, Lin Shaye.

Why dear lord why are they still doing this? The problem with horror is that once you make a single good film there will surely be six sequels to ruin it (at least). It seemed like this franchise may mercifully end as a trilogy, but the third instalment, already a bit of a failure, but that isn't enough for these people, who have decided to go ahead and make a fourth, which as of yet there is no plot known for. After going into prequel territory for the third film, there are not high hopes for this one, but you never know, it could still provide some fun and jump scares for you!

74. Red Sparrow!

Release Date: November 10th.

Stars: Jennifer Lawrence, Joel Edgerton, Matthias Schoenaerts.

Jennifer Lawrence is at it again, falling in love when she isn't meant to. She stars as a Russian intelligence officer who is sent to seduce a CIA officer, but as they come together in a dangerous situation, they find themselves feeling something much more real than intended and the Russian officer considers becoming a double agent for him. Lawrence should pull off this role expertly, and I'm excited to see what she can do in the role, this should be a tense and exciting thriller!

75. Paddington 2!

Release Date: November 10th.

Stars: Ben Whishaw, Hugh Grant, Brendan Gleeson.

Finally settled with the Brown family, Paddington, now a beloved member of his local community, now tries to complete a series of odd jobs to buy his aunt the perfect 100th birthday gift, however the gift is then stolen and he has to go on the hunt for it. If you enjoyed the first film, then you will most likely want to check out this one as well, and if you didn't then you should watch the first one because it is seriously enjoyable!

76. Justice League!

Release Date: November 17th.

Stars: Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller.

Ah DC. By the time this, your fifth film, has been released, you will have done three team up films and only two solo films, that is a bad thing. With the first two team films having less than stellar results, it appears as if this film is going for a lighter tone than Dawn of Justice, but so did Suicide Squad. So far it looks as if we are getting a lot of Batman as he brings together the League, but he may well get mostly cut out, we don't know yet. Sorry, I don't hate DC I've just been writing this article all day already.

77. Murder on the Orient Express!

Release Date: November 24th.

Stars: Daisy Ridley, Johnny Depp, Michelle Pfeiffer.

A remake I am very much looking forward to, Murder on the Orient Express is exactly what it says on the box, a lockdown mystery thriller about a group of people trapped on a train when a murder occurs. The likes of Daisy Ridley, Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer to name but a few of the cast should live up to the original epic cast, making this an exciting one to keep an eye out for!

78. Coco!

Credit to Disney Pixar Studios

Release Date: December 8th.

Stars: Gael Garcia Bernal, Benjamin Bratt, Renee Victor.

It's Pixar, what other reason could you possibly need to go and check out this one? This time it's about a twelve year old boy who sets off a chain of events leading to a discovery about a century old mystery, culminating in an extraordinary family reunion. Expanding on the horizons of the normal Pixar film, this could be one of their best yet!

79. Star Wars: Episode VIII!

Release Date: December 15th.

Stars: Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Mark Hamill.

Yes! Rogue One has done an incredible job in tiding us all over between instalments in the new trilogy of Star Wars films, but now I'm ready for it already. With Rey off training with Luke and the rest of the Resistance on a high after destroying Starkiller Base, things can only get worse, and it seems like they really will. In what will, of course, be the dark film in the trilogy, we are set to see the Resistance in huge trouble as new villains emerge, and Snoke helps Kylo Ren strike back against Luke and Rey for defeating him before. This could be an even more epic journey than The Force Awakens, so everybody get your tickets a few months early. Can I book them yet?

80. Jumanji!

Release Date: 29th December 2017.

Stars: Dwayne Johnson, Karen Gillan, Kevin Hart.

A remake you didn't expect, and the kind that you would joke about happening, is nevertheless a very exciting prospect. Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson are not the people you would be expecting to take the place of the legendary Robin Williams, but they aren't. Instead they are going into the very jungle of Jumanji, and it could be a hilarious way to expand on the franchise! This time next year I'm guessing that people will be raving about another epic buddy cop success for the duo behind Central Intelligence!

And that's it folks! I need a couple of aspirin and a rest after writing that so please enjoy and check out as many of these films as you can to keep up that comprehensive knowledge of all film you've been gaining! Or nitpick and tell me how terrible my writing and these films are and make fun of both in the comments, I really don't care anymore.
