Rockstar Games has remained tight-lipped on the hotly anticipated Red Dead Redemption 2 release date, so far only committing to 'Fall 2017'.
However, it looks like a British retailer has confirmed a leaked release date for the sequel/prequel to Red Dead Redemption, potentially revealing when #RedDeadRedemption2 will hit #XboxOne and #PS4 in 2017.
'Red Dead Redemption 2' Release Date Confirmed?
Until now we only had this poster and the first trailer to go by. Although vague, it at least gave us a time-frame. However, on UK retailer Littlewoods' website you can currently see a pre-order option for the game with a note on expected delivery date:
Now, don't get too excited and think "Oh man, 10th February! So soon!" as this is a British website using DD/MM/YYY. But if you were really that hopeful then you may need to learn some hard truths of the gaming industry.
A lot of people will be super excited to learn of a definite date, though these confidentiality breaches are somewhat of a recurring problem in video games.
Should We Believe It?
Can we put our faith in Littlewoods? Is it purely a ploy to generate some sales or was it a premature posting of the official date?
We may see something soon from #Rockstar to address this mishap, possibly trying to cover it up somehow. I doubt they'll embrace it since they've been pretty secretive so far with information.
The £69.99 price tag is a bit ridiculous too, as that's roughly $85 or €81. Meanwhile on Amazon the £45.99 ($56 or €53) price is a lot more reasonable and expected, though they don't have the release date set.
There have been previous cases of leaks being confirmed although they don't seem all that trustworthy at first glance.
For example, when rumors of Marvel Vs Capcom 4 surfaced days before the 2016 Playstation Experience, people had doubts about the legitimacy of some teaser material.
It did in fact get confirmed at the event, inciting fan fervor over the character choices in the well-known fighting franchise.
However, the release date for #RedDeadRedemption2 is a long way away yet and subject to change, so I'd be lying if I said I didn't have my doubts about the exact date.
