NetherRealm Studios' DC hero fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us was the surprise breakout hit back in 2013, the story was spectacular, the graphics and sound mixing were phenomenal, and it finally allowed any gamer that owned the game to be their favorite DC hero to beat the absolute s**** out of well known OP superhero Superman. Rumors of a sequel game showed up in gaming forums all around the internet as soon as the first person finished the story mode. It seems NetherRealm was listening to the masses, because on June 8th, 2016 the announcement trailer for Injustice 2 (see below for video) dropped on YouTube and every Injustice fan reacted with either s*** in their pants or skepticism in their brain.
Here is everything we've learned about Injustice 2 in the seven months since the announcement trailer dropped.

New and Returning Gameplay Mechanics
For the most part gameplay wise both Injustice: Gods Among Us and Injustice 2 have the same mechanics. A new mechanic that is being included in Injustice 2 is something called the "Gear System" which helps the player customize character armors so they can progress through the story in their own way. NetherRealm officially describes the Gear System mechanic as "The Gear System uses RPG-like mechanics to reward you with loot drops every time you play the game," said NetherRealm. "With each loot drop, you will earn character-specific gear to outfit and power up your roster – changing not only the look of each character, but your fight strategy and your personal approach to every match. As you gear up your characters, you’re building a roster of DC Super Heroes and Super-Villains that reflects your choices, and your preferences, which can be vastly different than your opponents." It is also said that there can be interchangeable costume pieces like capes, shields, arm, legs, and armour that can be put on different heroes and villains, the developers of the game said that there are over 1,000 items that can be used in each category. Some gameplay mechanics that're being carried over from Injustice: God Among Us are super moves, clashes, stage transitions, and rapport between characters before the fight begins.
