I am an aspiring novelist with a love for movies and anything Marvel. Writing is my passion, and movies are my obsession.

It's that time of year. The time of the legendary New Year's resolution. Sadly, many of these resolutions are smashed or murdered in the first few days. Now, it is almost the end of the month. How well have you done so far?

This year, I made a resolution to handle my stress better, more, and focus on my better than I did last year. Well, so far I have managed to keep up with one of those...

But why am I telling you this? Because some of you made that same resolution I did, to read more. Unfortunately, many of us tend to quit reading after college. Lives get busy and college kind of burns us out on the whole reading idea. This is why I have made this resolution, and also why I am going to help you out as well.

What better way to kickstart your 's resolution than with my handy-dandy list of my books?

The Lord of the Rings Trilogy - J.R.R. Tolkien

This is an obvious one, of course, and I know a lot of you will have read them already. J.R.R. Tolkien's "" is one of my favorite books, but each book in the trilogy is amazing. You will get action, fantasy, love, wizardry, and Hobbits. Who doesn't love a Hobbit?

A huge reason I love these books, and why I recommend them to you if you haven't read them yet, is because Tolkien had a lot of influence on me as a writer. I love his writing, and the planning he went through to give us these masterpieces. It helped me in my own world-building and race-creating for my fantasy novel.

"But I watched the movies..." you say? How was the amazing love-story between Faramir and Eowyn? And the illustrious Tom Bombadil? Now don't get me wrong, the movies are amazing, and very close to the books, but you miss some of these amazing subplots. It helped each movie to not end up being 7 hours long. (This, I really wouldn't have minded!)

William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, A New Hope - Ian Doescher

Thou goest - aye, throughout the galaxy.

Thou must hold with thy conscience, it is true,

Whate'er thou thinkest right, thus thou shouldst do.

- Obi-Wan Kenobi

Love ? Or ? Or both? Then you will love this book by Ian Doescher: William Shakespeare's Star Wars: Verily, A New Hope.

This book is one of the best things I have ever seen. It is written in Shakespeare's prose, but it is the full story from Star Wars: Episode IV.

Like Obi-Wan's quote above, all of the lines use this old English. It makes C3PO sound just amazing, and the banter is enjoyable to read.

It won't take you all year to read, of course, but it is another book I'd recommend to get you started. There are also more! The series continues through all episodes, up until The Force Awakens, but that book will not be released until October of this year.

Cloak of the Light - Chuck Black

Chuck Black is one of my favorite Christian authors. He has written many books, including the one above. If you like thrillers, books written by Ted Dekker, and the supernatural, you will like this book.

It is about a young boy who struggles after his father dies. Going through things that usually happen to you after a loved one dies, we get to see his steps towards healing up until he gets to college. That is where everything changes.

In this book, Chuck Black teaches us about spiritual warfare in an intriguing and very well thought-out way. I am not a person who normally loves this kind of book, but I really like this one. He also continues the story in two more books in the series! So, if you like this one and freak out because of the ending, don't worry.

Amazing Fantastic Incredible: A Marvelous Memoir - Stan Lee

I am not a person who loves sitting and reading autobiographies, but I could not put this book down! Instead of your normally written biography, this one is written as a graphic novel!

Stan Lee is one of my favorite people, and I love Marvel characters. It was so much fun to read his journey through writing. He even gives a few tips that I will definitely be utilizing in my own writing! I never really knew his story until now. It was very interesting to learn more about him, and how he came up with his characters.

If you would love to learn more about Stan Lee, then you should definitely check this book out this year!

Of course, there are many more books out there! Maybe you have a different book or series of books that you have vowed to finish *cough coughcough*. Or maybe you want to re-read your favorite ones. The choices are endless, I just wanted to help you get ready to kick this resolution in its behind!
