Im only on episode three and its already a favourite. AMC, Evan Goldberg, Sam Catlin and Seth Rogan havent disappointed me so far. The new series is an adaptation of the Preacher comic books published by DC Comics Vertigo imprint.
After an impactful (and unexpected) opening scene, the series then opens up in a backwater town in Texas, with an unenthusiastic preacher who looks like he wants to be anywhere else.
You come to find out that the preacher, Jesse, played by devilishly handsome Dominic Cooper, has the capacity to hold a supernatural force (dubbed Gods Silence) that gives him unusual abilities which sets the scene for the rest of the series.
Lets not forget another important character; Cassidy, an Irish vampire (played by Joseph Gilgun) being forced to lay low from vampire hunters, who soon becomes Jesses best friend. He offers comedy to the show, often dark humour but this still lightens the mood of the entire show.
Although were only on episode three, there has been so much to suggest further plot lines, in episode two for example we opened up in the late 1800s with a cowboy this left us completely hanging in terms of his importance to the rest of the series.
Back to a more recent past, were still awaiting more to be revealed about Jesse and Tulips criminal past, and a face to go with the name Carlos, a past accomplice whos clearly betrayed them but why?
And also what made Jesse turn away from this life? Was it the killing of the man at the scene? Had that sent him over the edge? Or something else? And where did he learn to fight so expertly?
What I can tell you about this series is it brings with it a lot of questions that keeps you glued and a brilliant cast, exactly what I love about a quality TV show. Let me know what you think about the series so far!
