Evanna Lynch, known by Harry Potter fans as the eccentric Ravenclaw Luna Lovegood, has chosen to take a break from conventions. In a recent post from her official Instagram, the beloved franchise star revealed she feels in a rut creatively, and wishes to challenge her heart instead of surrendering to fear.
Her character Luna Lovegood was admired by readers for her unvarnished honesty and bold personality. Giving the character her own spin of charming eccentricities, Lynch inhabited the role in four Harry Potter films - Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, Deathly Hallows Part 1 & 2.
The Irish actress goes on to say, "I'm different now and need to honour that and challenge myself to create something else, something from the person I am today. I feel like I'm stuck in my 18 year old self artistically when I actually have a lot more to say...."
Lynch promises to attend the two conventions she is scheduled to appear at this year before apparating from the convention scene. She has appeared in several TV series and films since the Harry Potter franchise officially wrapped.
As a cast member to one of the film franchises in history, it's hard to shed the image of a beloved role known to generations of fans.
However, the young artist joins the good company of her fellow actors who transfigured from their Hogwarts alter-egos: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Tom Felton, Matthew Lewis and Emma Watson have all starred in numerous blockbuster and indie films. The latter also became an U.N. Goodwill Ambassador, while Bonnie Wright made her directorial debut.
With the Harry Potter-led wizarding series taking it's final cinematic bow in 2011, Potterheads can only wish Lynch the best of luck to many more exciting projects both on-and-off-screen in the future.
