It has been over a year since the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and with that giant cliffhanger that left the majority of people either in tears or having a big smile on their face, fans have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the title for the next #StarWars film. As announced this morning by starwars.com and multiple other sites, the official title for the eighth instalment of the #StarWars saga will be Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Both ominous and eerie, there are many reasons as to why this wallpaper looks as it does. Let's take another look at it below.
The Tease Of A Darker Tone
This is the very first #StarWars film to reveal itself to have a red title. Clearly stating that the dark side will have a large presence throughout the film. Along with the title #TheLastJedi, it could also mean Luke Skywalker has gone to the dark side, or instead of becoming Sith Lord, Kylo Ren could be redeemed and come back to the light. There is also a strong chance that neither one of those plot points will even be explored. At this point, all that can be done is speculation. While I do feel like speculation is the absolute worst thing to do when promoting a film, due to the fact of guessing correctly, #StarWars is kind of inevitable.
Why The Title Is Perfect
Although it could have relation to the story, The Last of the Jedi, I will refrain from going into too much detail, as I myself don't want any spoilers. This title is absolutely perfect in my opinion, due to the fact it is a simple and subtle indication that we are going to have a slightly different tone, even though everything you love about #StarWars will still be very present. In line with #TheForceAwakens, this seems to also give the implication of following elements of #ANewHope, in that Luke could be the last Jedi that could end up restoring peace to the galaxy, or train Rey so that she can. I truly believe this will be a film about restoring as much hope as possible.
When Will We See The Trailer
As stated by Kathleen Kennedy in her response to when the first trailer will be unveiled she stated, "Pretty soon. We're giving this a bit of breathing room." It has been stated on movieweb.com that it is supposed to be released sometime this Spring, but I have a gut feeling that we are much closer to seeing some footage than some might think. With this title reveal and the Superbowl/Awards season underway, I wouldn't be surprised if we receive something within a month from now.
How do you feel about the eighth film be title 'Star Wars: The Last Jedi?'
