Hironobu Sakaguchi is the creator of the Final Fantasy series, and is currently the head of development studio #Mistwalker. He started the studio after he left Square Enix in 2004. Sakaguchi has a considerable pedigree and history in the game industry—so when he announces a new game, or even talks about announcing one, the game industry takes notice.
He's also currently in the process of bringing his mobile role-playing game Terra Battle to consoles, which he described as "progressing, but the road is steep".
Mistwalker has also made Blue Dragon and Lost Odyssey for Xbox 360, and The Last Story for Wii.
While #BlueDragon and #LostOdyssey met with mixed reviews, The Last Story for Wii was well-received, and was even part of the fan-driven, grassroots movement called Operation Rainfall, which petitioned Nintendo of America to bring #TheLastStory to North America, along with Xenoblade Chronicles and Pandora's Tower for Wii.
There were even rumors that The Last Story might be Sakaguchi's last game he would make before retiring from the video game industry (hence the name The Last Story).
Mistwalker has also recently partnered with Bravely Default developer Silicon Studio and are working on a new, unannounced game together. This could possibly be the game #Sakaguchi is talking about.
We will have to wait and see. Whatever it is, it will likely be worth taking note of.
