This review is coming in late due to Holiday hectic, and illness, but now I'm finally able to do my review. First of all, I would like to address that this experimental Star Wars film, is long over due. Star Wars is a fantastic story, but so much more could be done within it's universe. In fact, so much has been with books, and comics, but up until now, nothing has been done with film. We have stayed with the Skywalker family and their story, and really haven't branched out too much. This story didn't make the Skywalker family the main focus, and instead focused on a completely original character named Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones). After being on the run from the Empire for most of her life, while refusing to join the rebels, Jyn is detained by the empire for crimes against them. Jyn is freed by the rebels, and is thrown into absolute chaos that leads her to being an important part of future events in the Star Wars universe. I won't give anymore details than that because of how many people who have yet to see the film, and how many reviewers, like myself, have been ripped to shreds to giving away important plot points. I loved this new edition to the Star Wars series! It was non-stop action from beginning to end, with many twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat with anticipation. Felicity Jones is a fantastic edition to the Star Wars universe, as she plays the strong, and determined Jyn. Jyn's character is unique in that she presents herself as a tough character, but is still family bound to the point where she is willing to risk her life, and moral, to preserve any part that might still exist. As Jones does a remarkable job with her character, the Star Wars franchise continues to produce amazing females leads with amazing strength and depth. The special effects with this particular Star Wars film were truly at their best, everything was incredibly done with such detail, it would make you believe the effect were real. Like the original Star Wars, it gives one hope for the future films that have yet to come for the series. As I said before, however, this film is the beginning of more Star Wars films in the expanded universe. The story of this film was also very well thought out, and clever in how it tied into the original story, without most of main characters interacting with the original characters. Amazing film, go check it out, regardless if you are a Star Wars fan or not.
Goodnight to our beloved space Princess, Carrie Fisher, and her mother, Debbie Reynolds.
