It’s true. All of it.
What was recently rumoured is now 100% happening after the news from the almighty Empire itself, aka StarWars.com. It turns out that Woody Harrelson will be most definitely be heading to a galaxy far, far away for the upcoming young Han Solo origin movie.
Signals appeared on the radar a few weeks back but now the official site to the globe-dominating franchise has confirmed it with a statement to announce their new addition. This follows the previous cracking casting choices of Donald Glover as young moustache-grooming gent, Lando Calrissian, and Alden Ehrenreich taking the coveted role of everyone’s favourite smuggler, Han Solo. You know him, surely? Last seen having the most heated father/son discussion since Luke met his pops back in Empire.
Making a statement (we’re guessing not in unison) for StarWars.com, the directors of the spin-off in question – Chris Miller and Phil Lord – have expressed their enthusiasm:
“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody,” said the film’s directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. “His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”
Now, if one were to apply their thickly lensed magnifying glass to said statement, you’d be quick to assume that the helmers of the untitled Han Solo film might be suggesting that Woody’s character may have an space-aged game of table tennis with our loveable rogue, as gambling gents often do. Either that or they’re just highlighting just how multi-talented this incredibly talented actor actually is.
There’s been no further details on the name of the hero or potential villain Harrelson could be playing and bets are it’s going to stay like that for a while. But what say you, readers? Is this a good choice? Or should the Star Wars brain trust be taking a few parsecs to reconsider their options? Be a dear and sound off below, won’t you?
