Hi my name is Ravi and I love all things superhero and comic book related whether that be on the big screen or small.

Spoilers Ahead!

The official title reveal for the next Star Wars film came as a delight for fans like himself who had been waiting since 2015's 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens' for any news especially after the cliffhanger in the final minutes of Episode 7. So in seeing that Lucasfilm had finally revealed to fans the title for the eighth installment in the Skywalker saga I was left fangirling.

The title does not come as a surprise as it is most likely referring to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) who through the events of The Force Awakens we find is the last remaining Jedi who after the massacre at Jedi training school by the hands of Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) vanishes. We only catch a glimpse of Skywalker which was more like a cameo in Episode 7 and we knew that Episode 8 would take us back to that exact moment where Luke and Rey (Daisy Ridley) meet for the first time. Their interaction through the course of the film would be a huge focus as Luke is now a master and Rey who through the events of 'The Force Awakens; has found out that she is force sensitive and better yet is able to use the force to her advantage making her Skywalker's padawan.

Although, what caught my eye straight away was the colour choice of the logo, rather than a traditional bright yellow, it appears to be a red. This could refer to the dark side of the Force as we know the film will also focus on Kylo Ren and Supreme Leader Snoke (Andy Serkis) whose identity has been a big question following Episode 7. We know that a big color that we associate with the Dark Side is red as seen with the 'Sith' and even with the lightsaber that Ren has possession of. This gave me the impression that the film could have the tone of 'The Empire Strike Back' where the 'Galactic Empire' and Sith both had a more significant presence in the film. This would sense as The Force Awakens took it's inspiration from 'A New Hope'. Although I think there is a contradiction in this title reveal because the mention of a Jedi brings back memories of 'Return of the Jedi' so could the movie take inspiration from both. We know that this latest installment will be a completely new film to what has been seen in the past.

Chance are I could be overthinking this completely maybe the title reveal and the way it's been portrayed is to give us an identification that yes we will spend actual time with our beloved Jedi - Luke Skywalker but we will also feel the presence of the Dark Side in a new way. What did you think of the new title and what did you make of the change in colour for the logo? Comment below and let me know.
