I didn't know there was such a thing as #TwinPeaksDay, but I'm all for it! I've since learned that it was the day Agent Dale Cooper first entered the quaint little town of #TwinPeaks to investigate the murder of the lovely Laura Palmer, and #TwinPeaksDay has been celebrated by fans ever since.
Towards the end of the original series, this weird little bit of foreshadowing happened:
Well, David Lynch evidently took that to heart, and is bringing the show back 25 years later.
Showtime Goes All In
To celebrate the day, Showtime released not one, but TWO rad posters for the series continuation. Here's the one with Agent Cooper:
Very cool, right? Here's another, with Laura Palmer (or is its a Doppelganger? Hmm)
They are calling this an "event series", but I hope it's more than one season.
The Nitty Gritty
The 18-part limited series makes its world premiere May 21 at 9 PM ET/PT in two-parts on air, demand and online. Following the premiere, Showtime Anytime and On Demand subscribers will immediately have access to Episodes 3 and 4, which will air on Showtime on May 28 at 9 PM. In subsequent weeks single episodes will air. Lynch is directing each episode of the series, which was written and executive produced by Lynch and Mark Frost.
Many of the original cast is also present, so it sounds like it will be awesome!
The first promo was deliciously weird, featuring the auteur himself, David Lynch as Agent Gordon Cole, doing what he does best:
And who could forget this one: the capper from the original series, with Agent Cooper and Bob getting up close and personal?
The Cast on the Return of 'Twin Peaks'
Here's a little feature with cast talking about the new episodes, including the recently deceased Miguel Ferrer, who plays the acerbic agent Albert Rosenfield:
So there you have it. I can't wait for Season 3 of #TwinPeaks, and I hope it's just the beginning.
Oh, and before I go, I can't leave you without showing you everyone's favorite, The Man From Another Place: enjoy!
