Ever since The Force Awakens came out, fans have been anxiously wondering what the title for its sequel could be. Speculation and rumors took hold and we got some truly interesting titles (Destiny of the Force comes to mind). Well fans can rest easy now as the title was officially released earlier this morning.
Sporting a blood red color pallet, the 8th entry directed by Rian Johnson will be titled The Last Jedi. Take note, the plural form of "Jedi" is also "Jedi" so Daisy Ridley's Rey could very well factor into the title as well as one of the two last Jedi remaining in the galaxy.
What I find most interesting is the choice to use red as the main color, suggesting that yes, despite Rian Johnson saying the film will be "a blast and funny", the film may indeed be darker than its predecessor while still retaining its fun charm. The film is set to continue right where we left out, which has fans curious as to how the opening crawl will play out. Adam Driver also stated that the film will explore Kylo Ren's humanity and keeping his actions grounded and believable.
With the title out now, it may only be a matter of time before we get a teaser trailer. When Force Awakens' title was revealed on November 28th, 2014, we got our first look at the film weeks by the months end. Could we see something similar happen here? Perhaps the Superbowl? Stay tuned to find out!
The Last Jedi opens in cinemas December 15th, 2017
