Two strangers stuck in Manhattan for the night grow into each other's most trusted confidants when an evening of unexpected adventure forces them to confront their fears and take control of their lives.
Another film I knew nothing about, only that it had Chris Evans in it.
Chris Evans who happens to be 50% of the cast, the other half being Alice Eve. Essentially it is only the two of them for the whole movie, there are a few other characters but they only appear for a couple of minutes on screen before the are never seen again. One of those actors also happened to be a cameo by Chris’ brother, Scott.
Come to think of it, there is a third big character in the film; New York. There are so many stunning visuals of Manhattan all throughout the movie, some big wide shots and some close ups but all look visually amazing.
The first time you see Chris Evans, for me, is pretty weird; he’s lost all of his Captain America muscle and not just a little bit – a whole lot. Considering he filmed this between two films where he played Captain America, that’s a pretty big task.
There nothing new in terms of the overall story but it’s not exactly a repeat of all the others either. At first you could see this film as just being a couple of random people meeting and spending the night travelling across New York but unfortunately they didn’t leave it at that and had to ruin it with the not-so-great romantic storyline between the two, including some not-so-original obstacles.
While this film wasn’t a terrible waste of 1 hour and 35 minutes, it wasn’t spectacular either. Watch it at your own risk – there are better Chris Evans films out there and just better films in general.
