I loved seeing "Wicked" on stage when I was 14 with my high school band and chorus. While I am excited, there are certain scenes I feel will not compare to the stage version. Such as a crowd favorite and mine, "Defying Gravity". In the stage production, Idina is lifted high into the air on her broomstick while singing at the end of the number. The magic of the theatre is the idea of illusion and magnifying ideas. Or, throughout the show, to represent "The Great and Powerful Oz" they bring out a swift moving appealing to the eye animatronic headpiece and mask. Am I excited? Yes, very, but I feel it couldn't compare to the stage production.
