I grew up with the 25 minute format, but this was when Doctor Who was 'filler' TV, sandwiched between Grandstand and The Generation Game (or whatever) - not 'event' TV like now. The pace was slow back then, and even though I am a massive Doctor Who fan, the stories took some time to get going and could actually be quiet boring to the casual viewer. I would prefer more cliffhangers, which I understand S09 will deliver, but happily I don't have dementia just yet so my attention span will last a full 45 minutes. Don't forget that there was a number of episodes during Colin Baker's era that moved to 45 mins successfully. Ratings are very healthy in this age of multi-channel TV so I see no need to shake the format up.
