As of June 23rd, the Steam Summer Sale (called the Summer Picnic Sale) kicked-off and things are looking pretty good so far. If you're like me, then you know your wallet is in trouble as you're scouting for some games to play (or linger in your Library until you have some time to play them). To help you guys out, here are some suggestions for games on sale for under $10.

10 Affordable Steam Games To Look Out For

1. Besiege - Base Price: $7.99 Sale Price: $5.59

To start things off, here's a really fun and addictive game that challenges your creativity and strategy. A physics-based game, you are tasked to build a siege weapon that will shatter your enemy's stronghold. There are no predetermined choices and there's plenty of freedom when it comes to building your weapons. If you haven't heard of this game yet, then check out some YouTube videos where players build all sorts of mechanisms to take down their enemies. Warning: Expect a lot of phallic-based weapons.

2. Long Live the Queen - Base Price: $9.99 Sale Price: $5.99

I'm not too big on anime-based, visual novel games because I don't really think they're worth the money, but this one is very different. One, it's challenging as hell. And two, it can be funny at times. You play as the Princess of some fantasy kingdom, waiting to take over as Queen after your mother dies a mysterious death. You have to train the Princess in a variety of skills, steadily improving her abilities, from dancing to sword-fighting. As you near coronation, the Princess will be put in all sorts of dangerous and deadly situations that could possibly kill her, so you have to be careful with what you train her in. The game is really fun, even if you're not a fan of visual novel games, and if you want a challenge, then this one's for you.

3. This War of Mine - Base Price: $19.99 Sale Price: $4.99

If you're a fan of post-apocalyptic games, then This War of Mine has it in the bag. The game is a 3D side-scroller and puts you in the shoes of ordinary civilians trying to survive. You have to manage their resources and build their shelter, as well as send them out to gather supplies, even coming across other people trying to live through harsh conditions. It's incredibly fun and highly emotional as you get attached to each of your characters.

4. Sanctum 2 - Base Price: $14.99 Sale Price: $2.99

I really enjoy this game mostly because I'm a fan of tower defense games. Sanctum 2 combines the gameplay elements of first-person shooters and tower defense as you have to manage resources and build various walls and turrets to fend off waves of alien hordes. You also get to shoot at them as they attack your base, and the game is even more fun if you have three other friends playing with you. I recommend this for people looking for a good co-op game.

5. Undertale - Base Price: $9.99 Sale Price: $6.99

If people haven't told you to play this game yet, then let me be the first to tell you that you should really play this game. It has great RPG elements and a unique "combat" system (if you want to call it that). Your approach on enemy encounters and boss fights affects how the game ends and there's some replayability to it. If you don't have a lot of time in your day, luckily Undertale is not too long to finish. Also the music is just fantastic, so get the soundtrack too if you can.

6. The Mean Greens: Plastic Warfare - Base Price: $9.99 Sale Price: $7.49

Do you like multi-player shooters? Did you play with toy soldiers back when you were a kid? Do you still play with them (which is totally fine by me)? Well, this game has everything you need. The game's maps are very creative to traverse around; from a tub filled with bath toys and a child's bedroom. You control a toy soldier (either green or beige) and can play through various game modes, such as Capture the Flag. It's pretty easy to pick-up and the player base is growing.

7. Battleblock Theater - Base Price: $14.99 Sale Price: $2.99

The creators of Castle Crashers brings you this weird, energetic, and hilarious side-scrolling game. I don't want to spoil anything about the story because it is quite the experience, but you basically get shipwrecked on a prison island controlled by a crazy warden who's puts you through a bunch of dangerous trials. The narrator is funny and the platforming is executed wonderfully. I highly recommend this game to everyone.

8. Hotline Miami and Hotline Miami 2 - Base Price: $19.99 Sale Price: $4.99

These top-down action-horror games are brutal, violent, and challenging, but the best thing about them is the music. The 80s-like techno songs blast in your ears as you go on murderous rampages. Steam is selling both games for a very fair price, so if you've got an extra five dollars lying around, then pick these games up during the sale. Also, a warning: don't play these games too long because the neon colors and pixel graphics can eventually hurt your eyes like it did for me, but I guarantee you won't know how much time has passed once you start.

9. Divekick - Base Price: $4.99 Sale Price: $3.99

This unusual fighting game requires only two buttons: one to jump and the other to DIVEKICK. You aim to be the first to kick your opponent and win the match. The gameplay is simplistic, but it does require strategy and timing to win. It's a fun game to play with friends and boasts a few hilarious characters that parodies mainstream fighters.

10. Oddworld Stranger's Wrath HD - Base Price: $9.99 Sale Price: $2.99

This remastered Xbox game still holds up both graphically and gameplay-wise. The game has a lot going for it and it's unfortunate not a lot of people know about it. It deviates from the other Oddworld games, so don't worry about playing the other ones (although they're great as well). It combines third-person action and first-person shooters as you play as Stranger, a Clint Eastwood-esque bounty hunter, trying to bag enough cash for an operation.

If you guys have any other suggestions for cheap games, feel free to share them. I know I've missed (literally) hundreds of them. Happy gaming!
