Hello, fellow trainers!

I’ve moved along from Santalune City to Camphrier Town. The road to the next Gym is a bit long, but my Pokemon and I are ready for the task.

The first path was relatively short, a trail between Santalune and Lumiose City that I followed and battled a few trainers along. I soon found my way to the entrance, where Sina and Dexio were waiting for me to guide me to the Lab.

Sina and Dexio are Professor Sycamore's assistants, who guided me to his lab from the end of the Route.

Upon entering Lumiose City, I quickly healed up my Pokemon and entered Sycamore’s Lab. There, I met up with my friends and I battled the Professor, who had three familiar looking Kanto starters on his team! Sadly, given the state of this Challenge, I will not be able to use the one I chose after the battle. I chose Charmander, but had to box him.

After the brief talk with Sycamore, I descended the elevator and came upon Lysandre, who I’m pretty sure no one doubted is one of the villains of X and Y. His desire for for a world of eternal beauty is seemingly dystopian.

I guess it all depends what his definition of "beautiful" is.

After visiting a nearby Cafe with Calem, I got my character’s hair trimmed in the Salon in anticipation of changing her outfit. Hopefully I’ll find something to match the hat I bought in Santalune soon.

Not much of Lumiose City could be explored yet, as a lot of the City was blocked off “due to a power outage.” Later we’ll come back and be able to explore more, as Lumiose is somewhat of a central hub in the Kalos Region.

As I explored Route 5, I got a chance to battle Tierno, one of my group of new friends. He only had one Pokemon, which did not present much of a challenge given my team is already full.

He had a Corphish with Swords Dance...which prompted an immediate "I must K.O. this thing" reaction.

However, I was forced to keep my Nincada out front for most of the journey towards Camphrier. She was growing very slowly and could not keep up with the Exp. All gains the other Pokemon were earning. This is an interesting phenomenon, as, according to Bulbapedia, Nincada's growth rates are erratic and thus Nincada could have grown much faster than she did. Just figures I would get the short end of the stick and have a Pokemon that, only by chance, would absorb the majority of the experience.

I skated and ran my way through Route 5 until I reached Camphrier Town, and after investigating for items and healing up my Pokemon, saved to let my 3DS and my Pokemon rest.

Next time, I’ll be exploring Parfum Palace and waking the Snorlax on the next Route! Until then, be well!
